Dejan Lovren

Hi Pool fans

Congratulations on your narrow victory against a sturdy Saints side yesterday. I watched the game closely as Dejan Lovren now plays for you. He is my countryman and a player i really hoped we (spurs) would sign.

What did you make of his performance? Not the sternest test he will taste in the red shirt of Liverpool that's for sure, but a good introduction to your team at the same time imo.

Man of the match for me yesterday.

Surely MoTM was Mignolet? Or Sterling.

Thought Lovren lost it a bit in the 2nd half.

Yeah Sterling for me. Mignolet and Henderson along with Lovren had shouts.

I've missed all the pool games so far this season, but i notice Lovren has been reinstated and according to a few pals of mine, has done quite well considering the disappointing first season.

Would be good to get some of your thoughts since you're the guys he plays for.

Lovren has come on leaps and bounds this season. I saw the potential in him last season to be a very good defender but I feared the worst after a poor season from him. I felt like many before him who have had a poor first season, he wouldn't be able to come back from it, or even get much of a look in. However Sakho missed the first two games, apparently due to the birth of his child and Lovren was part of a solid defence which kept a clean sheet in both games. He then backed that up with another solid performance with another clean sheet last night, away to Arsenal.

For me, and possibly most of our fans on here disagree with me here but we have three top centre backs who have issues, playing the way Rodgers normally likes to, whereby they are left exposed and need to use pace to get out of it. Skrtel can do this but Lovren struggled with it. Also the way we have played out from the back, all three of our defenders struggle with that. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, our full backs were always asked to push forward but this season they've obviously be told to be more conservative, this means we've kept a more solid unit. It's about finding the right balance and taking your chances.

I really like Lovren's attitude, he's a fighter and I think he has put himself on the road to not only saving his Anfield career but becoming an important player. It will now take for Lovren to put in a poor performance before Sakho gets the chance and this is the competition we need in defence.

Cheers for the overview on Lovren TOOR. I watched quite a lot of pool' last season and felt your defence was too exposed by midfield (something Spurs are suffering from) where Gerard had lost that yard of pace, it seems you have solidified the CM with Milner and Can injecting the much needed energy which in turn helps the defenders.

I like Lovren, he has some good attributes but it was just a question of decision making at times, which can be taught over time, hopefully he is on the right trajectory. If he gets his confidence back he can be a good servant for you
