There maybe trouble ahead...

I predict ugly scenes at the Emirates when the transfer window closes and if we start losing winnable games for obvious reasons i.e. the lack of a dependable striker. Most Gooners are unhappy with the shape of the squad

I think the signing of Ozil and the winning of the FA cup last season has only brought a fragile truce. It showed what is possible with a little investment. Nine years without a trophy, the highest season tickets in the developed world and the refusal to make the squad truly competitive are the ideal ingredients for a combustable season

Only if they are available and exist. A crocked Remy is not ideal. Nor an extremely overpriced Bony. We don't want to be lumped with deadwood within a year. Better to buy someone like Reus in a position we don't need than a bad player in a position we do. Giroud scored 22 last season. If he does that again we can work with that. It's not a bad goalscoring record.

No one would disagree with the above statement. The idea is to take a "calculated risk" on new signings through proper vetting and scouting. There was a time, not too long ago, when Wenger had to get rid of a lot of dead wood - which he signed.

Michu's first season at Swansea was very successful and was considered the buy of that season. His second season was less so and with the arrival of Bony he found his position possibly untenable and decided to leave. We have Giroud who in my opinion is under performing yet we are doing nothing about this. A manager has to take risks. That is part of the manager's job. Ultimately, fans are understanding when a signing doesn't work. It is only when a Manager persists with poor players that the fans become frustrated.

I would love Giroud as a back up striker. I just don't want to waste money on someone who won't win us the league but will be a road block to getting a better player once they become available.

You must also realise the personal cost of losing Giroud or Podolski. My name would become irrelevant.

Hopefully that £130m in the bank can play upfront.

Giroulski,

When will you know if there is a "better" striker available in the market; and if there is I one, how do we know we can outbid other giants and able to satisfy the player's demand wage?

This is the risk thegoonertic mentioned. We CANNOT sit and wait for something to happen and unfortunately Wenger likes to sit and wait (both on the field performance and off the field transaction).

I am not asking Wenger out yet, but the mentality some of us have, was like last year before the FA Cup win. People that did not want Wenger to resign because there is not a manager better than Wenger. Well... before Wenger came, who was he? Was he really a big name and a very successful manager before? Was he like a Klopp, Pep kind of manager that teams are willing to open up a space for them to join? Wenger was not, yet he got us some trophies and glory days. Why other "not so successful" managers cannot do the same? Yes, there is a risk, but there is nothing guarantee.

Same theory, Giroud worths 10-15 million, and is it because he cannot get the job done, so all 10-15 million price range players cannot do the same or better job than Giroud?

I will be sad to see Poldi leaving us this way, not treating fairly by Wenger. Business is business, if we can get a better player and he can go somewhere else and play more, win-win situation for both parties. But the question is, will Wenger get a better player by selling him or others? Or he will just "wait" and see how Giroud perform for another season? You know his habit, and this is why we are upset.

Haha AKBs have been saying this for years, yet we've needed a striker for the past 2/3years and there hasn't been any in the world that are better than giroud apparently. When do we wait till? Till giroud retires?

Wow this gets said every season. 3 windows and still can't find someone!

We dont need backup for Giroud he is our main striker. He has height to defend corners and can score against small teams. For the big games we can assign that to the rest
