Hello again!

Regarding a post in April about a torn MCL and meniscus, just thought I'd update you guys!

The damage done was a grade 2 torn MCL, damage to the meniscus was minimal but there was a risk of damage to the tendons for my hamstring, no operation needed after numerous hospital visits and physiotherapy, and I am happy to say...

I'm playing rugby again! Played my first match this last weekend just gone, in a 15-0 win too to top things off.

Just thought I'd let you guys know, thanks for the comments on the previous post... and... Come on Wales!! Ha

Hi Greg,

Thats good to hear that all is well with you - wherabouts on the field do you play, I guess some positions are likely to take more of a battering than others.

What are your thoughts on Wales, that front row seems to be creaking a bit now and how do you think they'll line up at half back? Also what about Tipuric, is he doomed to wander forever in Warburtons shadow or might he slot in at 6?

Finally, how do you see the Regions issue playing out and do you see the Welsh clubs future in the Celtic League or whatever the Rabobank is now, or somewhere else and if so where?

All the best and pleased to hear you're back on the field!

Hi SARS,

Im a back row player myself bud, started out at the 2nd row when I was 9yrs old but 15years later I'm pretty sure I've played every position apart from Flyhalf! But as everyone else around me grew through the teen years, I found myself more of an Openside Flanker. Fitness is the bane of me since I went to university though so I now prefer Blindside Flanker or No.8 if Im needed there.

The front row for Wales in my opinion is starting to falter at the wrong time, only a year off the Rugby World Cup and as you said, creaks are starting to show. I don't rate Paul James at all, he's aggressive but his discipline is his downfall, a significant percentage of the scrums where Wales give penalties away is down to him.

Tipuric I think is going to replace Ryan Jones on the back row, but relating that to all out performance, I think this is where Wales are going to be phenomenal for a few years, with Tipuric, Warburton and Faletau. Warburton's shadow is a massive one to get out of but I think a lot of pressure will be on him to mentally get past the RWC2011 semi final red card. We have a hell of a job to get out of the group stages but I'm quietly confident of beating Australia. Shame, if we wouldn't have had that dip in performance over the last 12 months we wouldn't be in this position where we have England and Australia to beat, or the "group of death" as some call it.

Well personally when we talk about the regions, I used to be an RGC player in the youth ranks (unfortunately family circumstances forced me to give up on that dream), I want RGC1404 to become a fully fledged region with the funding, publicity and resources to be participate among the other 4 regions. There's good clubs in north Wales such as Ruthin and Nant Conwy, I do believe Ruthin has produced a prop for Wales in the past though he didn't last very long, and then we have George North to think about. North Wales should have more opportunity to the players to reach higher and compete for national spots.

That's about as much as I understand the Welsh leagues situation at the moment, it's been a bit of a shambles how this whole situation has been handled!

Thanks for the well wishes

For some reason that reminds me of the Rab C Nesbitt tribute to the Kirk Douglas film - I think Rab had some sort of killer budgie that was eventually slain in battle and they ended with having the viking funeral of the budgie in a boat made of a can of lager - Special Brew perhaps? and a nast of two lollipop stick and a crisp packet for a sail, with the budgie being doused in lighter fluid and setting off to Valhalla on the local duck pond!

SARS

That sounds better than the Kirk Douglas effort
