Steve Clarke interested in Leeds job

Until he see's the wage offered

I read this story. It's ridiculous. That's why I doubt very much that Clarke or any other decent coach/manager will come. And if they do they won't last long.

I'd be very surprised if we landed Clarke.

Of course he's interested, but when he turns up for talks and Cellino low balls him he will soon be gone....I still expect the Adryan deal to fall through by tonight due to wages

Why do so many want Clarke to take over? I don't rate him personally. Did OK at WBA - only OK mind. Has PL experience so would gain the respect of the players. Other than that, what qualities does he have that would make him a good choice for us? Could he work for an autocrat like Cellino?

On Saturday night, the YEP understands that Cellino phoned Nigel Gibbs, of all people, to ask him to take up the job as head coach full-time.

Gibbs, left, was assistant manager at Leeds from April 2013 onwards and someone Cellino rated. Last month Gibbs resigned from his job and began legal proceedings against the club, claiming constructive dismissal after a summer in which he was effectively left without a specified role.

In a statement issued shortly after his departure, Gibbs said: “I have terminated my employment with Leeds United in response to the way I have been treated by the club, which amounts to a breach of contract. “I have put the matter in the hands of my legal advisors and in those circumstances it is inappropriate for me to make any further comment.”

Cellino, right, responded by saying that Gibbs wanted to the leave Elland Road but had asked for too much money to settle his contract. He also accused Gibbs of refusing to work for Hockaday.

Despite the conflict, the two men spoke at length on Saturday but Gibbs appears to have rejected the invitation to return. Cellino then decided to sit tight and leave Hockaday in charge for one more game, away to Bradford City. Gibbs was unavailable for comment and the legal case between him and Leeds continues.

In answer to Peakwhite, would want Clark because he's worked at big clubs so wouldn't be like a rabbit caught in headlights. Tactically aware. Highly regarded by players, managers and owners that he's worked with in the past. Appears as tho he enjoys concentrating on the football side rather than the celebrity or media side of things. Doesn't appear to have a massive ego. Knows the English game. Comfortable with title of head coach and has worked with for a strong owner before in J Peace. Did a good job at West Brom. Went a bit wrong when he lost Lukaku at the last min of transfer window to Everton.
All in all what's not to like ?

I think we all know MC is a bit of an idiot - but he's our idiot for now.

We knew it was going to be a wild and whacky ride and he's not disappointing is he?

I honestly think he needs a right hand man - who knows the club and fans - who he can "bounce" things off before he acts.

Clarke took a mediocre team to 8th place in the PL. After he left the club dropped down in the standings with same players, as I recall.

Other than that, poster with no name above stated his case well.
