How can Chambers be considered to be Vermaelen's replacement, when Wenger said the Belgian would need to be replaced after Chambers had already signed?

Just looked back, PP.

It was titled "Will United..." and I think it was speculating as the whether they might, in slightly politer terms, mess us about over the Welbeck transfer because, at that stage, Falcao still hadn't been confirmed.

In that case Sanchez was the replacement. As the old saying goes, Defend from the front.

But Alexis was signed before Chambers...

however you cut it, its madness that we are so short at the back and in the area of DCM

Well some people are saying it's better to have signed Welbeck than no one, so I guess the same could or should be said about Song.

Not that I've have been very happy to see him back, but at least it would be an extra body in there.

Could probably have got him in on loan too.

6 first team defenders is not good at all, especially when one is sadly an injury waiting to happen.
