Arsenal's signing of Welbeck has caused a bit of a stir on here today, with many Arsenal fans despairing that their club has purchased him.
As an outsider looking in I reckon it's actually a good deal for Arsenal. His pace and mobility is an upgrade on Sanogo, who I've felt has been thrown into the deep end by Wenger and has struggled.
Welbeck isn't a natural goal scorer, but it's my view they are strengthening a position which relatively weak with a player who can do a decent job for them given the chance.

All stats should use per 90 mins anyway.

Looked much the same when they were played out of position on the wing...

Welbecks actually younger than Sturridge, if we are taking it into account it works in Welbecks favour.
They both got their moves to play upfront at around the same age as well....n

Ok so to draw a conclusion; Welbeck had worse stats than Sturridge, he now has worse stats than Sturridge and we will revisit this at the end of the season.

Well apart from in similar circumstances then Welbecks were slightly better... But yeah Sturridge outscores Welbeck on the wing when sturridge is playing upfront...
Tbh most strikers outscore players playing on the wing.

Maybe we should see Welbeck playing upfront consistently for Arsenal as we have done with Sturridge before we draw too many conclusions.
Sturridge wasn't that highly thought of before he got regular game time upfront and had a similarly poor record because of playing on the wing...

Which one, the one who keeps replying, or the other one that keeps replying... takes 2 to tango as they say.
