Finally, Video technology in Football

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29109481

I really hope this is a serious suggestion & not a vote buying/lying exercise.

I would definitely be in favour of this, with all the technology about, football has been crying out for this.

Edit: here are Blatters quotes for those that can't access the BBC article.

"They have the right in the half, twice or once, to challenge a refereeing decision but only when the game is stopped," he said.

"Then, there must be a television monitor but by the television company and not by another referee."

"And then the referee and the coach, they will go then to look, and then the referee may change his mind, as it is the case in tennis, for instance."

C,mon football fans only moan at the refs when it goes against them.

---------------------------

We shouldn't have to be moaning at refs, none of us should. We should only have to moan about our players and or team not playing well enough

the Baz Tard in the black will be sadly missed at football grounds up and down the country when TV sorts it out

No thanks. Refs should make decisions and let the game continue. half the fun of watching footy is feeling cheated by the ref. More so when you're loosing.

-----------

Because it was really fun out performing Madrid at OT and seemingly on our way to the next round only for the ref to wrongly send off Nani and then watching us concede two goals within the 10 minutes after that wasn't it?

-----------------------------

Our fans' reaction to that was pathetic. Yes, it was probably a yellow card, but you could definitely argue a case for a red card. I didn't feel cheated after that game, we didn't react to going a man down and were punished for it.

Exactly. The ref interpreted it as a red. I don;t see why him watching it again would have resulted in any other decision.

Would Utd fans be happy to see the tackle reviewed again by the ref who in turn says its still a red?

Subjective calls can not be black and white and those people disagree with can't be rectified by the ref taking a couple of minutes to wacth it again. Its still a subjective.

This will be a horrible thing to happen to football./

Awful idea. Will ruin the game

All that will happen is any time there is a goal, a team will appeal in the hope there is a foul in the build up.

Referees, contrary to popular opinion, get far more right than they do wrong.

Id go the opposite and ban slow motion replays from any game.

I hope it goes no further than a trial, and the flaws of it are exposed. It's going to make football "analysis" even more painful to watch than it already is and cause even more widespread accusations of bias.

Find it peculiar that after years of fans petitioning for “technology” to be brought into football many now don’t want it as they feel it would not work.

I think the fundamental issue here is if officials believe it would be of benefit to them, and it seems an overwhelming majority of the PGMOL consider it would.

Anfield's full of cRAP

Football is start/stop anyway. On average I understand the ball is only in play for 60mins out of a possible 90.

Retrospective action via video officiating has been around for some time for 'severe' incidents missed by the referee.
