Managers better than Wenger

I know we are still only in September but with each passing season its becoming obvious that our manager is frankly not up to the task when it comes to modern football management. Most united fans would tell you Fergie was probably not the best manager at the time he retired and we need to accept the same about our wonderful Arsene.

I am of the opinion we have the 3rd best squad in the premiership after City & Chelsea.I know united fans would dispute that but like I said in MY opinion. Simply put we have younger players in key positions who are more dynamic. The dynamism part is explained by the fact that a new manager would only require few additions to the existing squad as compared to the united squad which is loaded with players on the wrong side of 20 some of which may not be suited to certain types of styles e.g Mata and RVP.

I quite like the Liverpool squad, I feel Brendan bought well (with the exception of lallana) but I believe they are a work in progress and should they be kept together will be an excellent squad in 2 seasons.

Now given the obvious shortcomings of Arsene, if we had to replace him, which list of managers would have to be considered for the job, plausibly managers better than him.

I came up with these managers who I feel are better than him

1) Diego Simeone
2) Jose Mourinho
3) Jurgen Klopp
4) Pep Guardiola
5) Antonio Conte
6) Carlo Ancelotti
7) Rudi Garcia
8) Jupp Heynckes
9) Roberto Martinez
10) Louis van Gaal
11) Guus Hiddink
12) Frank De Boer
13) Michael Laudrup
14) Mauricio Pochettino

Thats what I could come up with, can anybody add to that list?

Wenger has actually done remarkably well over the period when we moved stadiums and had no money. He kept us in champions league, and we still competed, while also being a bit unlucky with not winning trophies in that period. We could have quite easily been like liverpool, and finished 8th-5th each season in the period of no money. We managed to get through that period and the club still has a great reputation, and has consistent champions league. This was a good achievement of wenger, and one we will still be thankful for after he leaves.

BUT. Now its time to push on, the club have to realise this. We have everything in place to build a successful team. It doesn't so far appear to be working with wengers approach. The club need to make a decision if its wenger who is the man to lead us through this next period. He's a good coach, but its looking increasingly like he's not the right man for the job. He was excellent in his early years, and leading us through the period of no money. But he doesn't look up to this next task. Some managers will work, some not. I Really would like him to prove everyone wrong and win things, and prove he can take us to the next level. But its not looking that way.

Don't know about Laudrup, but I'd take Pochettino over Wenger. Makings of a fantastic manager.

So... I've been meaning to ask you. Why do you hate Bob Marley?

All I can say is your average Chelsea, City or United fan are DELIGHTED Wenger extended his contract by 3 facking years. If you intend to kid yourself that he's some kind of genius, then more fool you. The likes of Maureen and managers of Europe's big boys would keep laughing as they keep mauling Arsenal.

I think one of the issues with Wenger and Arsenal, as Bats alludes to, is that the relationship between the two appears to have become stale.

Who is to say Wenger wouldn't go to the clubs of a lot of the managers listed and do equally well?

Wenger's stock has fallen. But he's still a very good manager. Some of the names listed are frankly not in Wenger's league.

Problem being, as stated, is that Wenger and Arsenal are just plodding along on an even keel and that change may be necessary to get out of that - rather than Wenger not being as good as other managers.

If that is true, how long would you expect it to take a very good manager to build a squad that compete on all fronts with Arsenals resources?

OP talking out of his Arsenal

Pointless question because football changes and is also dependant upon what your rivals do.

That question doesn't address the idea that Pochettino, De Boer and Laudrup, most notably, are better managers than Wenger.

Any manager worth his salt would start with the glaring holes in the Arsenal make up - the defence. Stop conceding so many goals and with the amount of very good attacking players at the club then we would stand a better chance of not being ripped apart over and over again and actually beat a City, a Chelsea or a United.

Laudrop is garbage and what exactly has MoP done?

Wenger's hardly elite but still better than a lot of trash on that list
