Brian McDermott

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/former-leeds-united-manager-brian-4381398?

Probably his level.

Looked totally out of his depth at times here at Leeds United.

Good luck Brian.

If Kebe, Hunt and Stewart are examples of your scouting talents then Arsenal will have some stellar days ahead of them........

Another excellent decision by Massimo (twice)!

SKB

Thanks for the name check...! Appreciated

Under Cellino we are going to see progression, his techniques will be different and so will his management. His coaching staff are there to do his bidding, simple as that.

Power to his elbow, he seems to be heading in the right direction.

Time we put McDermott, Warnock and the likes of Grayson back into the memory banks called storage.

Think ahead, not back

Good luck to him, he'll probably enjoy that role a bit more than the pressure of a manager.

He was a poor manager. Bad signings, no tactics. It worked at Reading, maybe because he knew the club and players inside out, having scouted them all. Some managers can do it at one club and only one club.

Made some great signings at Reading though, so understand the move by Arsenal.

Personally I liked BM, but that's different to rating him as a manager. I do think he was working under an impossible regime - can't have been easy. From a public perspective he kept his dignity and was for a long time the only official source of information on what was happening in the club - well that's the impression I had anyway. The way he was treated by MC initially was awful; lacked any professionalism or decency - i'll definitely concede that.

BUT our club was crying out for a huge change of direction, something different, a culture change. Along comes MC and boy has he delivered that - much to the irritation of some. The fact that BM was eventually sacked again, was in my opinion inevitable.

Time to move on, to look forward. What's happened has happened.

By the way - good luck to Brian in his new role. Seems like a decent guy to me, just can't pick strikers to save his life ..........

It would seem that I'm not in the minority based on these few snippets.......

Stevie .......... I thought your original post was pretty fair... just a personal viewpoint, I didn't detect anything "nasty" in it.

I didn't mind Bwian ........... but as time went on the less I rated him as a manager. I still argue that the club turmoil at the time didn't help him much either. Not sure Mourinho could have operated under those conditions.

I genuinely wasn't being nasty, equally I genuinely didn't want him in the first place and felt before the Rochdale debacle that he needed to go.

Could a better manager have done more? I would suggest that they might have.

Colin's team was in free fall, morale low, awful tactics, hoofball, team selection bizarre with the Scottish chappie being played out of position.

Brian came in and the whole team was given a fillip. Secured safety and we saw a bit of football too.

He didn't lose anyone of note during the Summer and bought in players of his choice. Don't disagree that he might have wanted more but he was in a better place than his predecessors.

We didn't kick on and he seemed to abandon his usual approach. A better manager would have stuck to his principles, shored up the defence and at least maintain the status quo.

The players were capable of more but didn't seem interested. Huddersfield/Brighton, two games at home that showed what we were capable of. Sadly, those games were in the minority and without the goals from #44 we might well be in League One.

GFH was always a nightmare waiting to happen. Obvious from the start that they weren't financially astute and often absent at the most pressing of times.

However, McD wasn't pressed into selling anyone. Old squad plus new must at least equal status quo if not more. Mourinho would certainly have achieved that.
