Sterling asking not to start today

What do you all make of Sterling asking not to start today? Frankly I am stunned by it. He told Roy that he was too tired to start. The lad is 19 FFS. When I was 19 I played Saturday & Sunday, trained twice a week and usually played 5 aside in there as well.

Sterling is obviously looking after himself with the Real game coming up and I get that to some extent. I realise that football has gone this way in recent years, with some players putting club before country, but it just doesn't sit well with me. You should be honoured to play for your country and look to get as many caps as you can.

Robbing, this one is interesting. Bale managed to each 25mph in just 20 metres!

That is nearly as fast as Bolt, who can run at just over 27mph.

Not sure I could do that on a bike now!

I saw an interview with Alex Inglethorpe (now at LFC) who said he had abnormally long levers which is how he generates the power. Few better sights in football than watching Gareth in full flow.

That's pretty incredible. How do they take the sample speed for both, though?

Doesn't explain that.

--------

27.3 mph is Bolt's top speed during his 100m world record breaking run. 25mph is the top speed that Bale reached during a 20 metre dash against Villarreal at the start of the season. That is rapid and pretty amazing that he can accelerate so fast.

Yeah that's nuts.

The weird thing with all of this is that having read all of Hodgsons comments about it, I don't get where the perception is that he is having a go at Liverpool or at sterling. He's backing him up from what I've seen if you read the full comments.

this is what is wrong with english national team,

it s so painfully obvious when you see the Irish and Scots play, them boys would play in a nail field for their countries, these players understand what it means to wear the national shirt, its that simple.

I disagree with that melton. There are quite a few thinly veiled digs at Liverpool and also some not so thinly veiled.

Yet England are still far better sides than the Irish and Scottish.

If England played like them people would slate the side for being workmanlike.

People just like to moan about the England team because they aren't as good as we want them to be. But it gets a bit boring hearing this team, that team and the other being used as a stick to beat England with - especially teams like Scotland and Ireland who don't even get to tournaments but run around a lot, because they have to, so apparently play with this heart England are lacking (boring cliche to suggest running around is playing with heart).
