Sir Alex Ferguson hits out Fighting Talk!!!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29712012
Thats more like it. Moyes owned. SAF was the real genius. All last season and this season proved is how good SAF was. To get so many seasons of consistency. I think SAF used to know which players to play against certain teams= great squad rotation= happy and fit squad and we all know the last 10 minutes we would throw the kitchen sink at teams as even the opposition knew what was coming but this happened after tiring the opponents down. BTW SAF made a good point about Chelsea, quite a lot of old players still in there team. He also stated 11 were 25 or under in our title winning squad, its a shame likes of Fabio Cleverley Anderson Powell etc found it tough.

Sir Alex Ferguson: My Man Utd squad was not 'antiquated'

Sir Alex Ferguson has denied successor David Moyes inherited an "antiquated" structure at Manchester United.

In an update of his 2013 autobiography, excerpts of which have appeared in the Guardian, the former boss also responds to claims Moyes was hand-picked by him.

"Antiquated was a bizarre description of the structure I left behind," said Ferguson, who retired in 2013.

He added: "There appears to be a view out there that there was no process [appointing Moyes]. Nonsense."

Moyes was sacked by United in April 2014 after just 10 months in charge.

He left the club seventh in the table and they finished with 64 points - their lowest total in the Premier League era. The Old Trafford club also had their worst home record since 1978 during his reign.

Moyes - from 'Chosen One' to sacked

Ferguson said that his fellow Scot had found the move from Everton to United "a massive jump".

He added: "As the results deteriorated, each defeat was a hammer blow to him.

"I could see that in his demeanour. In January we bought Juan Mata and that gave everyone a lift but I could see the walls squeezing in, leaving David with less and less room to breathe.

"I know that feeling from 1989, when we went through a terrible spell. You feel you are being crushed. The results gnawed away at David. Nobody could dispute how disappointing the season was. And it cost a man his job."

According to The Guardian, Ferguson also says that he was not consulted when the decision was made to sack the 51-year-old.

In response to suggestions that an ageing squad was handed to Moyes, Ferguson states that 11 of the side that won the title by 11 points in 2012-13 were 25 or under.

"Chelsea started the current season as favourites for the title, with a squad that also had six players in their 30s. I don't hear any grumbles about the age of their group," he added.

Now here is something worth reading. Absolutely bang on by the great man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Courtois - 22

Ivanovic - 30
Terry - 33
Cahill - 28
Azpi - 25

Fabregas - 27
Hazard - 23
Oscar - 23
Matic - 26
Schurlle - 23

Costa - 26

Hardly a bunch of 30 somethings. Last season we had Evra, Rio, Vidic, Giggs, Carrick and Fletcher all in the side regularly so it's not quite how SAF tells it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's 4 regular starters, they have 2, big deal. Giggs and Fletcher were never first choice.

Firstly having four over 30 somethings over two is a disadvantage.

Secondly, only Carrick of those 4 older players was still anywhere near his best. Rio, Evra and Vidic were a disgrace last season with how they played.

The two over-30's at Chelsea (Terry and Ivanovic) are still playing at a very high level.

Last i heard Rio is probably gonna be let go by QPR in January. That's how bad he got.

John Terry looked a disgrace under AVB. Mourinho comes in, he is a different player. Rio looked a class player under Ferguson the season prior, Moyes comes in, he looks a chit player. 30 years or not, he won with these players, so not his problem another Manager can't do the same.

How many of that title team still remain in this team just two years later?

DDG, Rafael, Rooney and RVP. Maybe Carrick at a push. Maybe you forgot how awful we were during that title season, especially in defence. Without RVP we wouldn't have won jack. Who was injured for a lot of last season? RVP. Crazy coincidence we didn't do as well without him ahead of that average side.

The same rvp that Rio Ferdinand has come out and said never looked himself throughout last season. I think you'll find regardless of whether he stayed fit, we would've struggled due to inept management. David Moyes came in and promoted Rooney to star man status.

You are right dude but the blinkers won't come off others due to the last 26 yrs, understandable

The players fergie left behind were blatantly over the hill and it was fergie s presence thatade them good enough to wear the shirt fergie knew how to win with them,

Moyes was never going to command respect from certain players, and the board didn't help in in replacing certain players,

Moyes was undermined through out his tenure, and certain players stopped playing as they would have for feegie and giggs was the main culprit of this

There is no doubt in my mind that SAF did not leave the squad in as good an order as he thinks. Yes we had a lot of youngish players, but as we have seen in the last two years, they are just not good enough, or have major staying fit issues.

That said, let's not pretend Moyes was dealt a bad hand. He was not. He was just not a Manchester United manager. He was way out of his depth.

And this is exactly what the great man is saying. The man did not fully comprehend the jump from Everton to Manchester united. We are talking about Harvard and Oxford of the football world here.

Nail on head. No one disputes the fact that we needed strengthening and freshening up but it is clear to see that Moyes was out of his depth. Way, way out of his depth

It seems Moyes and Van Gaal are way out of there depth. Making SAF achievements look even better
