Kompany rages at CSKA "punishment"

City skipper Vincent Kompany has asked the poignant question, ‘who exactly was being punished?’ when the Blues met CSKA Moscow.

Uefa forced the Russian side to play behind closed doors against City after the CSKA supporters committed a number of offences including racist chanting, yet by the end of the game more than 600 home fans were encouraging their team from the stands.

And with City supporters not even to observe the game from a high-rise building opposite, Kompany believes the wrong set of fans were punished last night.

Speaking on BT Sport.com, Kompany said: "You say 'no fans' then all of a sudden you turn up and basically the only team that hasn't got fans is Man City. So who's getting punished? Who is being done for racism? Man City or Moscow?

"I don't have a problem, they'll say it's sponsors and so on and they need to give certain allocations, but why are we getting punished?

"You'll have people in your papers writing columns saying, 'he should be looking at his own performance and stuff' - so we've analysed it and we know we should have done better but things like this are unacceptable to be honest, there's just no fairness in it."

Couldn't agree more, Vincent.

Blues in for Ozil?

Elsewhere, ESPN speculate that City could be set to make a shock move for German play-maker Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has rarely hit the heights he once enjoyed as a Bayern Munich or Real Madrid player, but could the Blues really be preparing a bid for the World Cup winner?
Write ESPN: “Speculation that Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil wants to leave the Emirates continues to abound in the British press.

“Just a week after the 26-year-old had to deny reports that linked him with a move to Bayern Munich, another story has surfaced claiming that a move to Premier League champions Manchester City is on the cards.

“Metro say that City boss Manuel Pellegrini has ordered his board to make a £32m move for Ozil in January as the Citizens plan for life without Yaya Toure.

“The Gunners are apparently prepared to cash in on the mercurial German, whose sale would almost double the 42 million pounds that Arsene Wenger already has to spend in the winter window.

Liverpool deserved it says Sir Alex

Finally, former Reds’ boss Sir Alex Ferguson is in the headlines again – must be a new book out? Indeed there is! Well, an update on the one he released last year.
The Daily Express carry the snippet: “Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that Liverpool were the best team in the Premier League last season

“Manchester City eventually won the title as Liverpool saw their bid to win a first championship in 24 years fall just short.

“But Ferguson - who famously antagonised Liverpool fans throughout his time at United as he looked to 'knock them off their perch' - believes Brendan Rodgers finally has the Merseyside outfit playing the right kind of football.

“He said: ‘From my perspective they [Liverpool] were definitely the team of the year.

‘They made their leap forward the right way: they played positive football.’"

As opposed to the negative football played by the champions Sir Alex? I'm sure the book will sell well…

We played better football than Pool, Scored more goals than them, had more goals throughout the team and most importantly more points...Aswell has competing for four trophies might i add Its bitter Whiskey nose's way of trying to discredit our title win no doubt.

I like the man tho he is a smart man, he retired just before our inevitable total dominance of Manchester for the next 20 years.

What Kompany said was spot on, he didnt blame the 600 fans being there, he said how are there cska fans in the ground and 0 city fans when they are the ones who are supposedly being punished.

He was commenting on the fact a club who's fans had not racially abused anyone got punished.

That's uefa for you punish the English at every opportunity

The ironic thing is lining the players up for the no to racism picture at the start.
