Balo the scapegoat!

It's so blatant that the media and Carra etc are focusing more on Balo swaping his shirt at half time than LFC being totally outcassed by a top team.
He had no support at all yesterday, only Sterling, he played ok, but he's the main focus of people, not the defence that got split open numerous times, not the midfield that was non exsistant, i feel a bit bad for him, he's being hung out to dry, and after about 10 games, people are talking about selling him in Jan, i thought you lot, especially, stand by your players through thick and thin.

Mario is playing in England and has to try to adapt to the footballing culture. Considering his time with City, it would be expected that he may have already grasped this. Swapping shirts in front of fans at half time when you are getting pumped is a no, no.

Rodgers has made it clear that he doesn't like it, so he has also broken the rules laid down by the manager.

It's hardly crime of the century, but when you are a big player who's attitude is quite rightly being questioned due to his poor performance level, it's not the brightest thing he could have done. It appears weak and defeatist if front of fans who have waited years to see their team perform against the biggest teams at the highest level.of club football.

It was an idiotic thing to do imo.

So pepe doesnt respect madrid?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Madrid were three up. Pepe was still wrong but Balo shouldn't have been swapping shirts with the enemy half way through a game when they were getting drubbed

Shanks would have thrown him out of Anfield

I'm amazed you're not going mental about it.

He shouldnt have done it, but when hes being the scapegoat I have a problem with it.

There is a lot of OTT outrage directed at Balo IMO. He’s not playing well right now, but nor is the Team as a whole. Last night was a clear demonstration of how far we have to go to measure up against the top sides in Europe. A reality check can be a good thing.

Thus far this season we are really struggling without Studge, yet pre-season we all accepted post-Suarez our performances would drop off for a while, with hopefully a steady improvement as the season unfolds. Despite being dogsh it we are still above our main rivals for top four in the Prem.

The responsibility lies with BR first and foremost. Without Studge we currently lack the front players to play to our strengths. So the correct players might not have been available in the summer (Remy? oh wait ), so BR needs to change it to allow those players he has available to be more effective.

As for the shirt swap, yes it was unwise and potentially sends out the wrong msg, but for me it’s a storm in a tea cup.

Redknapp hit the nail on the head. Don't blame Balo but instead blame the manager for buying him.

----------------------------------------

I have heard from numerous people that it was the owners decision to get him due to needing a high profile player at the club. Not sure if this is true or not but it did make me think that he is not a Rodgers style player.

I would sell him to Tranmere

Coutinho did the same thing vs everton

---------------------

I thought is was against Chelsea, Sahko/Eto - Coutinho/Oscar.

I believe they were disciplined for it, because it's not really the done thing thing in English football.

Balo definitely a scapegoat. He was never a lone man and the outcome and team performances would be the same with a Borini or Lambert. The media circus on Balo is taking the focus away from our team performances most notably our back four.
I can understand opposition fans having a go because they're looking for excuses but how awful must it feel to watch a section of our fans behave like that against their own player. This shirt business is a total none event
