Lets give the players credit

You can hate the manager all you want but on evenings where the players find it tough they have consistently found a little extra to give us a result. We have up to 7 first team players out, our 3rd choice goal keeper on debut in the champions league but they still find that extra effort to get a result.

We have played awful football, bad tactics at times but we have only lost once in the league. Yes, we may have lost to Southampton at home in the league cup but they are an excellent side.

What I don't understand about those that feel they should abuse Wenger after every game is we all know the strengths of our manger and the ability of his teams is always linked to the preparation.

We have had a shambolic preseason plus a glut of injuries and under those circumstances it is difficult for our manager to get the team to play the football he wants us to play.

We all know all our best teams in the past would start well esp after a good preseason with players fresh and injury free. He hasn't had that luxury this season but under the present circumstances he is managing things the best way he can.

Arsene has his faults but under the circumstances he is doing a decent job!its not like we are losing 4-0 away to MK Dons.Other than Chelsea no team in the premiership could have got the result we got last night. City, United or Liverpool would have battled to get anything.

Yes I know we shouldn't always celebrate getting results while playing badly but under the current circumstances we have a fantastic group of players who have the right attitude and spirit to represent our club.

If it was Fergie managing United away at Anderlecht last night, the media would have praised his team for doggedly fighting to the end.

With Arsene it is viewed as a lucky escape.

Worst thing is that our fans buy into it and criticise our manager for winning away in the Champions League with a team missing 6 first teamers.

Our players need more consistency. They should take the responsibility for their abysmal performance last night and for the average displays so far this season.

Fergie won the league constantly with Man Utd. Arsene's major success is almost a decade ago. You need to be winning major trophies to be given that leeway.

Same problems every game that why people arent as forgiving. Its not like this is a 1 off its been happening all season. The defending on show yesterday after they scored was comedy club like.

On a side note it looks like Welbeck looks well and truely knackered. Hes played every game since he joined along with every England game. Its shouldnt be too long before he gets injured along with our only spark Alexis.

Yeah Fergie had the benefit of actually looking like he knew what he was doing for the most part. Arsenal have looked pretty mediocre for a few years now (by your previous high standards).

I genuinely can't remember the last time I watched Arsenal and thought 'wow, Arsenal were fantastic in this game'

Does consistently losing players to long term injury count?

In all seriousness though, last night would have been viewed as "Grinding ou the win in bad form dogged by injury" if it'd been Chelsea, City or Liverpool.

OP

Certain people are now just desperate to have Wenger leave. I think it's at the point now where nothing short of an EPL title will shut them up. Given our situation, our results are to be expected. But people are behaving as though we shouldn't be seeing any dip in results. We're in a struggling spell where 1-2 away from home in the Champion's League is a result no matter how you got it. However the people desperate to have Wenger ousted will now jump on any match that isn't a comprhensive victory, to use as a sounding platform for their Wenger Out drivel. The funny thing is, these very people don't realise that the only reason they're so disgusted at the nature of the win is because over the last twenty years, they've gotten so used to watching win with great football, style and flair. It's thanks to Wenger they now still moan if their team "wins ugly." Both hilarious and a shame really

Yes it is a serious reason why we are in this situation and dont get me started about our transfer window about the defensive part. We overplaying players who suffer from fatigue or getting injured. We miss players badly like Özil, Giroud, Debuchy and Kos. We dont have the bench with players who could make an immediately impact or players who can change games.

I am happy that we won last night but yes the performances was abysmal and it was just pure luck and an average Belgium side. To compete with the big boys on all fronts we need all our players back to give some a breather here and there. We never have all players fit and available at one time.

Even more reason with our injuries to have enough defenders. The lack of defenders is obvious to any fan with a basic knowledge of football. Seems to pass Wenger by though.
