For starters, it references Ronaldo according to Messi, NOT Pele or Maradonna. Since Messi can't be referenced to anyone of this age or generation, we are compelled to go as far back as the greats: Pele and Maradonna. It also acknowledges Messi as the best and then points out that Ronaldo is on his second run for back-to-back Ballon D'Or titles. Considering Messi has done it four times in a row, it is safe to say the comparison should start in 2017, IF, by then, Ronaldo wins it four times in a row. And heaven help us if somehow Messi wins it a fifth anytime soon!

I wish that people who love Ronaldo would just accept and get over the fact that he'll NEVER be put into the same league as or considered better than any of the games greatest players. And just get over it.
OP PLLLEEEASE understand that being classed as one of the world's greatest ever footballers requires 2 things and Ronaldo only has 1 of them.
Think of it as a 100 point tally needed to get into that exclusive group of players. but the most points any player can get for skill with a ball is 90. The other points you get come from BEING LIKED!!
Though I will say it may be possible that Ronaldo scores 90 out of 90 for his footballing skill, alas "The people" can't stand the little Most people hate him which means there will never be enough people willing to say "Ronaldo is the grea..."(I can't even bring myself to type it.
It is as simple as that. People will respect his achievement whilst having no wish to praise it or make his fat funny shaped head any bigger. He's a lil (or is perceived as one by the majority of the public) so will never be adored in the way you have to be to be called one of the greatest.
I can't wait for him to retire because once he stops on the pitch, this discussion will be dead and buried because people will move on quickly. Ronaldo is only talked about so much because he's playing so you have to talk about him. People will happily still be going on about messi long after he stops kicking a ball...
