On a more technical note, both Rotheram and Wolves couldnt handle us for the first half, yet after 15 minutes they come out and rinse repeat the diamond killer tactic.

The other infuriating thing is this diamond, YES its good when ur players are fresh and confident on the ball etc as we once again saw in the 1st half, HOWEVER when an astute manager counters it we flop, 50% because we have not got enough tacklers to make the formation effective defensively and 50% because Darko has us sitting so damn deep!!
That second half was clearly a half which would see Wolves do what they know damages us, yet after 5 or so minutes of crosses and wingplay we made no effort to react. Left flank cross cross, cross.
Whoever is insisting on this diamond formation has no idea of how football works, OTHER TEAMS LOOK TO COUNTER YOU!!!
Call me an armchair manager but a 4231 when things looked ropey changes everything. Fullbacks have cover and midfield has a man spare to triple up if needs be.

Mike, it's not about this 'dreary' nonsense, its about seeing that its just not working and not making all sorts of excuses for it as we hear on here all the time.

Imo it's not the diamond to blame, it's how Darko makes us sit off them and absorb pressure in the second half. We shouldn't let them run at us because we have a shaky lead.
On the bright side I thought a few of our players looked promising. Adryan, Morrison and Warnock all played well
