Ronnie pips it for me as a greater entertainer. I've grown up watching Ronnie in his prime, I think most people are divided depending on who they watched as a youngster.

Always the question whether he could have won more - it's a big "what if" now though.

I just don't think Ronnie was ever meant to be that type of professional player like Hendry or Davis.

You could argue that if he had this professionalism 20 years ago, he may have won more, but would he have been as entertaining?

Or conversely, the way he played in the early 2000s (which was very attacking) allowed him to get the early titles that the now more professional, sensible Ronnie can consolidate on.

The way he played in the World Championship 2014 was the most negative I have ever seen him (still attacking compared to most players), but he was refusing pots, putting reds safe when he had a lead, playing way too much percentage snooker. Had he played like that in the early 2000s, he may never have won his 1st 2 titles.

Thankfully he seems to be playing back to something like his best in this tournament.

I think Ronnie is one of a kind. Won't be anyone like him ever again.

I didn't see too much difference at the Worlds last year. Just in the final Selby wore him down and won in the style Selby wanted to do it in.

Will see which Ronnie turns up in York.

I remember when the UK final was like the world final and played over 31 frames, Jimmy won the last version of that in 1992, the year after a 17 year old Ronnie beat the great Hendry 10-6..
Selby wore Ronnie down this year, ho wRonnie missed that black over the middle pocket when they were level at 12 -12 i think, i will never know... He says he was in agood place after that defeat, doubt it... great chance to get to the Davis mark of 6.... hope he can reach 6.....

Not sure he was in that good a place. He crashed his car on the way home that night at about 2.30am!

Indeed... He knew his chance for the 6th had been fritted , he hadn't played as well throughout this year's world championship either...

For many years I always rated Hendry above Ronnie, especially when Ronnie 'only' had 3 World titles. But over the last few years I have changed my view, and when he took his 5th, that for me was enough for me to put Ronnie at the top of the tree. There's no doubting he was the most entertaining, but to be considered the best you have to have a decent number of tournament wins, and Ronnie now has that, even though still behind Hendry overall.

Ronnie has reached levels of play that I've not seen in other players, and even this week, albeit in more sporadic moments, some of his shots, and the ease at which he executes them, was truely breath-taking. The fact that he will take over Hendry's century record is also amazing, because I felt that was the one record that Hendry would keep.

We all know that Ronnie should have won 10 titles, I'll be shocked if he stays on 5, I think he'll at least match Hendry, and a little gut feeling that he'll get to 8.

Think he blew his chance of 7 titles by losing to that Thorburn throwback in the spring, I do think he will get 6 though, and another UK, and a Masters.

That final against Selby was an absolute nightmare to watch as a Ronnie fan because you just know that the slow and tiresome approach that Selby had worked rermarkably well. Didn't help that Liverpool blew a 3 goal lead to Palace that day either. Horrible day.
