Brentford 2 - 1 Derby County

West Landan again - we're making a habit of this......

Fresh from the mauling meted out to Fulham in mid-week, Derby seem to be cautiously gaining confidence and - please - having belief in their own undoubted ability. Please carry this on, this afternoon.

Headaches for Steve and the gang over selection. Jake and Simon came back against Fulham and both did enough to earn a game today. Ryan Shotton is back from injury and may feature.

Isn't it nice when players are injured, we either have adequate replacements or they get well very quickly - these are payers who WANT to play for their club.

Brentford are a buoyant side and should not be dismissed. Their danger man appears to be Alan Judge - an Irish born midfield player.

Tickets are sold out for Derby fans and have been for some time.

Team news:-
Butland;
Christie,
Keogh,
Buxton,
Forsyth;
Mascarell,
Bryson,
Hendrick;
Dawkins,
Russell,
Martin.

Subs: Roos, Eustace, Hughes, Coutts, Shotton, Best, Ibe.

Ramps the worse part about that game yesterday was we go 1.0 And we did not push on. They were there for the taking yesterday

Wassa. .....It seems only you and I noticed these problems at the Bournemouth game.

I still think that we can win this league if we can play at a higher tempo, find an on field leader and play a bit more direct.

There are clearly some issues to be addressed if we are to achieve the automatic promotion that I think this team are capable of. Is this manager able to address them?

Everything he has done since he arrived at the club suggests to me that he is. This is where we will really see what he is made of.

ZZH you were talking drivel after the Bournemouth game. We played very well that night and even though we left it late it would have been a travesty if we hadn't won. If we return to that level of performance we WILL win this league.

Who wants to go up and do a Burnley/QPR anyway?

Just asking

Ramsfan baz.
I think there's a serious point there. Life around the top of the championship is much more enjoyable and cheaper than life at the foot of the premiership. But the nature of sport is to strive to the utmost to beat the opposition.

It's a dichotomy too hard to figure out clearly EXCEPT that our team must bust every sinew to win each game and every fan must urge them on. But when they don't quite achieve perfection we have to still encourage and forgive.

I've subscribed to the "better to be top of the second tier than bottom of the first " before but have come to the conclusion that its absolute garbage.
Why? Because Southampton have proved that you can, in very short time, push into the top 6 of the premiership IF your set up is right.

True Peeder, I believe they are probably and exception though. They have an outstanding academy setup which has proved to be a goldmine down the years.

And Swansea
and Stoke

They have all come 'through the ranks' and shown that 'it can be done'

Highlights guys.... http://m.youtube.com/watch?list=UUsOKCDfSRPwRhnbCqBO8CQw&v=CU91l87SSLA&feature=youtu.be can someone please answer this question for me! how much longer is Steve Mac going to sit in the stands? Surely he should be on the bench with Simmo, cause after all the players do respect him.
Baz, give me the premier league anytime. Especially when you have to get to places like Charlton, Brentford etc, which are very difficult to get to.
Note of caution, fans are starting to ask why Steve Mac is tinkering with the side all the time. How Hughes didn't start yesterday, I haven't got a clue. Why did he rest Eustace last week, and he didn't play yesterday?
There's a lot of question wanting to be answered.
Steve Mac said, it's going to be interesting putting his wits against their manager, regarding the tactics of both teams as to who would come out on top.

Regarding going up I think u have to try and be the best u can or there is no point of even playing. So give me Premier League anytime. Think yesterdays team was a result of the performance at Fulham and thinking towards Tuesday. I expect Hughes,Eustace,Ibe and maybe Shotton to start Tuesday.
