The Game and Brian Laws

What a brilliant game of football today which was made possible by both sides. I thought some of our players were superb. Akins, Palmer, Big Mac and Beavon in particular. Excellent. Really good entertainment.

I was going to predict 1-1 today but played a gambling game. Stick with your gut instinct instead of gambling. That's the moral of the tale.

I gather Brian Laws was sat next to Ben Robinson during the game.

Very enjoyable. I heard hasselbaink and Bobby Davison were there. But even though I sit in the posher seats I only saw Steve hodge but he's there quite often.

ex Derby captain Ian Taylor was there.

Played at Derby with Michael Johnson & Darren Moore.

Sounds like a possible management team...

Agree with previous posts. Good game, excellent performance from the Brewers. Unlucky not to get the three points in my view.

What worked? Well I thought Deano's distribution was a factor. Far more rolled or thrown to the full backs rather than aiming at the heads of the strikers.

Matty Palmer in a more forward role as opposed to sitting in front of the back four. Allowed him to use his passing to much greater effect.

Playing the forward balls to Beavon's feet, brought him into the game and with Lucas and Alex spending most of the afternoon near the touchlines we had good width.

And some good crosses. Palmer had a good headed opportunity early on and McGurk's late miss looked worse on TV than it did at the time.

Lenihan for a tiring Bell was a good switch and I thought he was impressive. Strong with a bit of height, he might have had a couple. Not afraid to take a shot.

Big test to come with next three against 1st, 2nd and 3rd as it stands.

Whoever was in the stands is going to have to hit the ground running, but plenty of positives from yesterday. Well done to the caretakers.
