The Promotion of Youth

We first saw youth given it's head in the 60s with the Don who was allowed to do his own thing and the rest, as they say, is history - and a glittering one at that.

We then saw the youthful foundations being laid by our Eddie in the Second Division in the 80s after relegation - only for the board to shamefully call time on his tenure having lost patience with the lack of progress being made towards promotion.

Later, we saw O'Leary give youth the green light to wreak havoc on the Premier League and Europe until he fell foul of the expectations arising from his extravagant spending and an empty trophy cabinet, not to mention THAT book.

Are we on the cusp of seeing the next rise in the fortunes of LUFC resulting from the contributions of youth as championed by the coach who knows them best, and who could yet prove to be a resounding success at the helm of our beloved football club - Neil Redfearn.

Promotion of both youth and coach from the Academy - leadership, stability, trust, confidence, encouragement, PROGRESS - a warm, close family unit which could serve the club well for years to come.

I'm encouraged by the obvious potential to do well and with NR overseeing things and the added bonus of him having the ear and trust of MC from day one, I wholeheartedly believe that it's just a matter of time before we see an improvement in results and success wiping its feet on our doorstep once again.

Sorry to disappoint the drearies with a positive article, but as I've referenced above, the signs regarding NR's approach in blooding youth, as history has shown, are undeniably encouraging.

Let's get behind the whole merry band and will them to a great 3 points at Blackburn on Saturday

I don't think its we are getting our hopes up too much, nothing wrong with that.

It's that too many people, think every time a young player makes his debut he's sh I t hot.

A lot of people can't see ability.

I actually think all three have ability but nothing outstanding.

Delph is the benchmark and none are anywhere near his potential

But it's great to see good young ones

Cook - Has the potential for Prem

Bryam - Better than a lot in the prem already (when fully fit and himself)

Mowatt - Great little player and a superb left peg, his pace will hold him back though i think, which is a massive shame.

Liw - I don't think Cook and Delph are the same. Different qualities. Cook looks more of a holding, controlling player. Seems very comfortable on the ball and shows some glimpses of real skill going forward. He'd compliment an Adryan type player in front of him.

Delph for me was all energy, and a lot of skill as well mind. I just think they're different.

Whenever we introduce a youngster into the 1st team, I always hope they'll be a gem. Back of my mind I also know that chances are, they'll do okay, but not a lot more. I'd love to see our team in 3 years time competing in the Prem with the likes of Byram, Cook and Mowatt (plus others) as the cornerstone, with other signings supplements to that squad.

Cook for me is a s close to Delph we'll get for a while. Cook in 2/3 seasons time could be useful. Just gotta stop giving the ball away. We need experienced players in now imo, not more youth. Get some class players in to help develop the younger ones and protect them in games.

Jud

I know a Delph had his injury-related problems but it's taken time for him to assert himself on a higher plain.

Cook is developing well.

Well there's a lot of the Bossmanagers backing group on here, so how come he don't say what he plan's?..

I'm sure he was on about sorting the club out from top to bottom and while doing so looking for players to bring in!..

Redder's,(gowd elp im!)is doing exactly what he's been put there to do, he's coaching the players put in front of him but at the same time has more of an idea of who he think's can do it from the production farm!..

Let's not forget, it's the Bossmanagers plan to sort the club out and build for the future, so what better way then what's being done?..

These youngsters can/will improve, a year in this league will harden them up, and the push for the heaven's will be next year!..

That's two year's if I'm not mistaken!.

If it work's out quicker then even the Bossmanager will be a happy little teddy!.
