Typical Arsenal v Utd Game

My two cents. LVG obviously studied how Fergie's record in the recent years was so good against Arsenal. With help from Giggs as well, we weathered the storm that we knew would be coming. And picked them off on the counter. With our blue kit, the 2nd goal reminded me of the 09 CL Semis where we just soaked the pressure and hit them on the break again and again.

Will Wenger ever learn? Moyes and now LVG have 7 points out of 9 against Arsenal, and all three games it was the same old. That's why I was so confident, while our board was in doom and gloom mode before the game, I was one of the few that said we'd get a result. We beat them with Rafael, Gibson, O'Shea and Fabio in midfield ffs.

Personally I didn't think that was anything like what has been seen before especially first half. Arsenal should have been out of sight in that first half. United's defence obviously was depleted but their midfield was so slow not seen anything like that before. Arsenal have one thing that is majorly holding them back that is the manager.

As for United I personally think Van Gaal is taking United for fools at the moment with his philosophy. That is probably the worst United side I've seen in 25 years. Injuries are a factor but the overall the style of play is poor definately not what you expect from United.

In short both sides have got problems which dont look easy to fix.

I think the game just shows how poor Arsenal are right now. And let no united Fan be encouraged by this either.
Arsenals issues are clinicality in front of goal and defence. Uniteds problems are everything except goalie. For me we are still the worse team or the 2 and fully expect arsenal to do what they have always done.

I genuinely think if that United side was called "Burnley FC", we would have won that game. Wenger has a mental block against the top sides. He transmits that mental block to his players, so both get extremely nervous in these type of games.

Therefore, not only is Wenger predictable in big games, but he has a losers mentality before even stepping on the pitch.

Serial

IMO not so much of a “mentality” but an insistence of implementing the same tactics over and over again.

That said, much is made of our defensive problems but little is mentioned about our inept finishing. If you look at many games we have lost we have squandered numerous chances.

The only positive we may be able to take from this season is that our rivals are just as feeble as us.

It was a typical Arsenal performance tbh.
23 shots, 12 on target and 1 goal.
United, 2 shots on target and they scored one.
I think the biggest issue we have at the moment (apart from Wenger of course) is that we are full of individual who are looking for glory, instead of playing for the team.
How many times have we seen this season a player taking a shot (and missed it) instead of passing it to a player in better position? Ramsey and Wilshere being the worse at it..

iawr - agreed, poor shooting accuracy.
But on the other hand, how many times have we complained about our players overcomplicating the finish, too many passes etc?
Why pass to someone else who will also probably miss?
Make them stay behind after school and practice shooting

I think we could find a right balance between those two.
I agree with you, in the past we could hear fans in the stadium shouting for the players to shot.
However, for some reason this season we saw players attempting shots when they didn't have two.
Again, here I am pointing my finger at Ramsey, Wilshere, Welbeck and Cazorla.
We could have scored 3 in the first half against United if players where willing to make that extra pass.

A game between two fairly poor sides who both have various issues to solve.

good news is that everyone bar Chelsea are poor and I see both of these teams in the top 4 come May

From an Arsenal point of view we are some luck and 2 good players away from really threatening that third spot next season...

maybe even getting to the quarter finals of the CL...

let the good times roll

Interewsting, how after 2 days united fans can see that LVG despite the injuries is not taking united forward at all.Top post by tomatoes man.

I still think united have more issues than Arsenal but thats not saying much because Wenger is really fućking up now.

Too much is made of our defence but our strikers have let the team down.Monreal has looked better than Mert in most games but is a scape goat.

God knows what it will take for united to have a decent midfield but doubt LVG has a clue how to fix that.

Rooneys first away goal in 8 months, RVP had 12 touches in 70 minutes and Felliani and Carrick in midfield is not a team that will go places.

I keep hearing that City are not guranteed 2nd place but does anyone really think united or Arsenal are better than them

I wouldnt rule out Liverpool, Everton or Spurs, way too early
