It would be a surprise if Rodgers ever reached Wenger's level looking at their career's as a whole. As of right now Wenger may not be at his brilliant best but Rodgers would have to go a long way to match him.

Bit of a state the obvious moment there. You could look at any young manager just starting off and say that.

The former is an estimate of how their careers will pan out and the latter a judgement of their current abilities. Given the current low judgement of Wenger and Brendans peak moment a season ago not everyone might agree.

TKT almost sounded like he could be hinting at a different opinion with his Shaun of the dead reference.

A 'Has Been' and a 'Never Will Be' - football, eh?

just a joke

I'm a big fan of Wenger

Devil's advocate though, all Wengers success came in a much weaker prem (at the top especially)

If Wenger came to Arsenal the same year Abramovich arrived....would he have any trophies? He only had one team to topple. Now it's 3.

Could he have won the 2 titles in the Henry years without Henry.

lots of variables.

Could Rodgers have done what he did without Suarez?

Take away a star player and that usually makes the difference. I remember United fans complaining regarding the Cantona and Rio bans hurting our title chances.

As for the first part I guess it depends on how you balance what a manager does on a smaller budget, he would have less trophies for sure but I guess it depends on how willing you are to compensate success with excuses regarding spending...

Very similar really if you look at fans posts/opinions. 3 wins in a row, best man for the job,our year etc.. 2 losses and a draw, rubbish, need a change,he's a drunk, not Arsene obviously.
