At arsenal, I don't know whether to or
Thoughts?
Wenger would not elaborate on his definition of a strong season but rubbished suggestions Arsenal - in the midst of their worst start to a league season in 32 years - are in crisis.
He said: "When you're such a long time in football you don't really understand anymore what 'crisis' means. I must get to the dictionary and look at it well again."
"I personally feel there's a very strong bond inside the team and the club, and I feel this team will have a very strong season. I'm ready to bet with you on that."

I don't know many other 'big clubs' who sold their best players every year and had to make profits... only the one Arsene managed coincidentally enough.

Sorry man, but if you think Wenger handles the pressure now as well as he used to, you're fooling yourself.

He's under more pressure than he probably even has been and he looks focused

Chelsea have a very solid team and can beat any of those teams if it clicks.

You are right, Maureen might get results against them but it would require parking the bus home and away as Chelsea's squad and first team are nowhere near those teams in terms of ability.
Europa is the best hope for all the english teams this season

The Champions League is just a money making exercise for Arsenal, but at least it does what is needed - make money.
Even if we were to go further in the Europa League, we wouldn't win it, so what would be the point of dropping into it?
At least making the last 16 of the CL keeps the Arsenal money men happy. Someone might as well be. Happy, that is.

The denial is strong in this thread.

The problem is Wenger has to come out and say the same thing every season...

Finishing 3rd in our group would require us to lose our next 2 CL games. Which would be appalling and provide absolutely no confidence in the squad.
What a completely ridiculous idea. Probably the stupidest I've heard.

Well realistically Wenger isn't going to come to the media and say what an awful season we're having, how useless and clueless he is as a manager, and that we'll finish outside the top 4, is he?
Having said that, Wengers definition of what constitutes a "a very strong season" is somewhat different to what other people might think. For a club of Arsenals supposed stature, a very strong season should mean we'll finish within touching distance of the league leaders, whilst putting up a strong title challenge, looked good against the majority of teams and despatched them with ease, and finished at least the quarters of the CL.
However, for Wenger it is obvious that a "very strong season" means a top 4 finish. And if that's the case, he's right.
