Should we go for Shaqiri?

According to Beckenbauer, Shaqiri is free to leave Bayern in the January window. The guy is a very very talented winger and IMo would light up the PL on one wing while Di Maria is on the other. Right now our options are Valencia and Adnan and as much as I rate Adnan, he's stuttering in his development and needs to go on loan.

Shaqiri would probably be cheap as most players who are told they can leave usually are and would be just what we need. He takes an amazing free kick and is electric on the break.

You do, but I'm not sure if as a priority. The players you have that are real top class all already play in the attacking half of the pitch, I just think the priority should be to get one or two at the other end
------------------------
We need a top class cb as a leader
we also need a dm to add balance

then we need a winger. But with a winger of reus quality available ed woodward will be stupid to not make his signing a priority. Especially if not doing so will see him join a direct rival.

Can't see Real going for him. Where would he play?

I don't know why people still fall into this trap when discussing Madrid.

Point taken but they already sold Di Maria because thety had too many wingers.

It doesn't matter. If Real sign any of our transfer targets then we can just sign whoever they get rid of to make space for him...

I only meant if it was at the detriment of not landing the others ginger. As I said, I imagine you will be in for all three positions given your financial clout anyway.

I'd be even happier if Madrid got Reus and we ended up with Isco to be honest!

Melton

Just read an article the other day about how SAF would have cleared out dressing rooms when the rot had set in and how so many City stars have contracts until 2017 and beyond.

2017 - Toure, Sagna, Nastasic, Clichy, Zabaletta, Caballero, Fernandinho, Navas and Negredo.
2018 - Jovetic, Kolarov, Djeko
2019 - Aguero, Silva, Mangala, Nasri.

Nothing too wrong with players on long contracts but with what City pay you could imagine some of them might lose their edge if they know they're able to sit back and collect on a pay cheque as long as they like.

IMO you guys need a bit of a mini revolution at the club. Get rid of Toure and Nasri. Whether they'll agree to go I don't know (well, Toure wanted to go didn't he?)

melton, nah Madrid will just convert Isco into a cm.

isco, is a beast
seriously under used at madrid

reus will cost at most 25 mil, I can see real demanding di maria money for isco cos they can. And with FFP I would rather deal with BVB than madrid

Robb,

I don't think some of those dates are right but we resigned most of them in the summer (not Toure though). The reason was that we have restructured our contracts to be like Barcas and to be heavily performance related - our wage bill when the accounts come out this and especially next year should show that.

We need more players rather than less, the restrictions mean we are light on squad players this season. I partly agree with Toure but definitely not Nasri, he is pivotal to Pellegrinis system and was excellent last season and up to when he got injured this one.

We just need to buy big a couple of times and get some real game changers in again, we only have three players we paid over 30m for and one of them is Mangala, who we won't see the full benefit of for a year or two yet.

Darren, The daft thing is Ancelotti would probably make it work!

Not unless he's happy to come and sit on our bench.
