They played for both sides.......

Doesn't time fly? Hard to believe that it's that time again for another exciting episode of the increasingly popular (in my mind only) instalment of "They played for both sides........"

This week the Mighty Whites take on Derby County, a club inextricably linked to Leeds United by the football genius that was Brian Clough. Love him or loathe him he was truly the greatest manager the England national side never had. The greatest manager England did have was, of course, the late, great Donald George Revie, the father of Leeds United as we know it.

There's been a few players down the years who have worn the famous white shirts of Leeds United and the not so famous black shorts of Derby County. For instance remember those two long serving stalwarts in the 70's, John O'Hare and John McGovern?

Today's subject is a man who played his part in the resurgence of the club during the late 80's. Signed by Bremner but also played under Sgt Wilko, it is one Robert Davison aka Oh Bobby Bobby, Bobby Bobby Bobby Bobby Davison.

Bobby signed for Leeds United in 1987 directly from Derby County. He played over a 100 times for Leeds United scoring over thirty times. I seem to recall him scoring in six consecutive games becoming something of an icon for the club in that era. He formed part of a potent striking duo with another United favourite Ian Baird.

New striking options in the form of Lee Chapman and Carl Shutt bought a premature end to his time at Elland Road. Bobby returned to Leeds United in recent times to help out with the Academy but now works alongside another former player Noel Blake with the England U19 team.

For Mighty Whites followers;

1) What's your favourite Bobby Davison goal?
2) Which other players have played for both clubs?
3) Which current Rams player would you want in our starting XI and which player would he replace from our last starting line-up?
4) What was your classic Leeds United v Derby County game?
5) Did we ever think that Brian Clough's 44 day record as the shortest stint at the helm could be broken twice in one season?

For our esteemed visitors....

1) What's your abiding memory of OUR Bobby?
2) How did Roger Davies miss that goal?
3) Pride Park or Baseball Ground?
4) Which current Leeds United player would you want in your team. You have to choose one. You really do.
5) Why is it pronounced Darby when it's spelt Derby?

Over to you!

Is it poisoned mushrooms in Derby, most of them need a doctor for their condition, it seems to consume them, the poor s o d s,?!

Mention Leeds to them and they get all excited, frothing at the mouth...we've always got them excited!

Derby have never done anything in Europe, irrelevant club.

Oh we get excited alright, wet even at the thought of 6 pts a season from the dirties.

Must be mushroom time in Yorkshire and by the way it's a shît hole, I wanna go home.

Leeds broke plenty of windows in Europe, hooray.

Wouldn't even get a twitch at the though of 6 points against irrelevant Derby, let alone wet.

Enjoy your cup final(s) mate.

Top of the league, I love being irrelevant

C'mon Leeds!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong - I don't pay much attention to anyone bar Derby, but did follow Leeds briefly as they challenged the bigwigs.

I believe Leeds story is everything wrong with the premier league (along with a couple of others). The desperate fight of chairmen to get the big cash leads to speculation which all but destroyed the club.

I was around for the rival years... And to be honest I dislike "dirty Leeds" more than Forest because of my close working contact with reds fans. I wouldn't however say I hate anybody.. As cricket showed this werk , sport is a mere distraction, but old rivalries are what makes it fun on the day.

In terms of played for both teams you don't seem to mention Sethlad... Wonder why that may be

Hmmm I wonder why that might be

That is not true, we got to a semi final of the European Cup and "lost" to Juventus. It was proved later that the ref had been bribed by the cheating Italians.

The Derby fans behaved well when abroad, unlike another team who wear white shirts.

Scandalous. Real Madrid fans are well behaved too.
