Absolute Disgrace

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7XKJSd4cpQ

These fans are a complete embarrassment to the club and I'm almost ashamed to be an Arsenal fan because of them.

I'm Wenger out like I'm pretty sure most people are at the moment but this sort of abuse is just completely out of line, especially for a club legend like Arsene.

There are other ways we can express our views which don't involve this complete lack of respect.

What a shameful day for the club.

WWSPD,

You've actually asked this same question multiple times without actually reading my answers, which would perhaps suggest you like the sound of your own words rather than engaging in any decent discussion about the subject.

If you want to be so overly distraught over the fans reaction, you can continue to do so. I don't really care and neither does Wenger or his antagonists. It just shows you're not really clued up on the level of discontent at the Emirates.

Maybe because your implied vindication of the video has been wholly immaterial?

I’m sure you will be aware that the widespread condemnation of the video was not a conscious decision but a genuine reaction by all and sundry.

You somehow believe the reaction to be contrived. A view so wide of the mark it is nearly as embarrassing as the video itself.

Rather than express disapproval of the video, you have chosen to endorse it based on complete irrelevance.

WWSPD,

Again, i don't condone the actions of the fans but i totally understand the frustrations which led to their actions. Swearing at any person is totally out of order, but the anger towards Wenger was totally justified.

Really hope that's clarified things for you, because TBH i'm a bit bored with repeating it.

And again, the main angst of my comments were directed at your insistence that they weren't fans.

Oh and the "widespread condemnation"?! Like from, for example, Gary Linekar?? The bloke calling the chants "disgusting" yet laughed at pictures of Wenger slipping after the Liverpool game??

Yes, the chants were a bit OTT, but ease with the fake outrage. By your OTT reaction, you'd thought they tried to lynch Wenger.

One thing though that genuinely confused me about reaction of the fans was, why that reaction away to Stoke?

Surely they must know that a Wenger side are perennial bottlers away to Stoke and we almost always get turned over?!

You appear to think there is a select handful who have invented anger towards yesterday’s events, when in reality it is the complete opposite.

On one hand you criticise their actions, and on the other empathise with them, and go on to defend their conduct based on events that have nothing to do with what transpired at Stoke, or have the slightest degree of relevance.

Had there not been a police presence (and barriers) to protect AW and the players, who knows what could have happened.

What, are you seriously suggesting that the most loyal fans in the club would actually assault Wenger?! Behave WWSPD

Being anger at Wenger is one thing. Swearing at him when you've just had your club humiliated is another thing. But actually physically assaulting someone is a different league altogether. Dear me, you don't half go overboard sometimes

Flashmobs.

Autograph hunters.

Photo bombing.

It could've gotten really messy.

It would seem you are endeavouring to mis-quote me to add favour to your argument.

If you care to read my post; have copied for your convenience:

“Who knows what could have happened”

At no point did I allude to, nor mention physical violence.

To clarify, given the furore of the ‘fans’ there is no way of knowing what would have transpired had there not been a police presence. It didn’t exactly look as if they were there, or in the mood for, reasoned protest but simply to hurl abuse.

posted on 8/12/14

Of course you alluded to some form of physical aggression. What else could your comment mean? The fans rushing to Wenger to shake his hands on a job well done?!

posted on 8/12/14

While I am unsure if anyone would physically assault AW, there were missiles thrown at him and his staff (from inside the ground) by Arsenal fans at half time.

Had the police and barriers not been in attendance it is inconceivable there would not have been disorder of some sorts.

I also understand that the person who made the video was so embarrassed by it they removed it from You Tube.

I think this debate has gone as far as rationally possible in view of previous comments.
