Bit of an update on this just now in the Twitterverse. Rumblings that there has been an issue processing the payment for Albentosa and that is what has stalled proceedings.

I've saw that too Rosso..

We are now a very well run club, and very smart when it comes to transfers. We keep well an truly zipped until a deal is done 👍

My Spanish is not quite up to it but it appears to be a hiccup related to who is being paid - it seems to be between the club and the league? And it seems to have some tax consequences for the player?

There is some disagreement seemingly as the club want to limit risk by structuring the deal in a certain way. But as I say my Spanish is limited so I could be wrong!

Is the way it seems to read. Release clause apparently says he has to buy out his own contract but if we give him the money to buy out his own contract he has to pay tax on this generous gift to him from us.

Put simply, Sam'll sort it, as per.

Cheated a bit and Google translated it. Not being versed in the finer points of Spanish capital gains tax, but assuming their rates are similar to here worst case would be 28% say. As his fee is rather a steal from the looks of it, could we stretch to paying him a grossed up amount and letting him sort his tax out? he'd still come in at about £750k....?

Surely we could pay his tax for him, or would he also be taxed on that as well?

Either way i'm sure we'll sort something out if the price is as much as a steal as people have said.

It's all over twitter, the Spanish lad Raul Albentosa played tonight and said his farewells to the players, and the staff and fans, and said he's coming to England Derby County. There you go it's official
