As I am aware (maybe wrong) we have had 5 Brazilian players at Arsenal and only Gilberto Silva has been a success. It seems we have no luck with the Greatest Footballing Nation…
Santos
Denilson
Wellington
Edu
Gilberto Silva
We don’t have luck with Brazilian Players

Edu was pretty decent

Edu was class. Denilson even had a good year. Santos was the only shocker.

Wouldn't even call Santos a shocker tbh.
Wasn't fast enough for the PL and had 3 or 4 nightmare games, but generally was OK.
Wouldn't put him in the Squillaci bracket

Batista was a don in the league cup

I think you're being kind Chris. He looked absolutely lost in defence. A better player than Squillaci but i'd rather the frenchman in defence.

Edu was very good. Just had the misfortune of having very, very good players ahead of him.
You missed a few players, some already mentioned, Sylvinho, Juan, Pedro Botelho for example.

Eduardo was brazillian too (same situation as diego costa). was very good before the injury.

Edu and Gilberto weren't fine. They were quality. Gilberto was a key part of the invincibles and I always thought we were stupid to let Edu leave on a free.
With regards to Paulista, wenger has been complaining recently about the lack of old-fashioned English style centre backs like Tony Adams and said he was in the market for someone like that, so, fingers crossed.

No point in stereotyping. Players can be very different. They do miss the sun though.

Edu, Gilberto, Sylvinho, Eduardo and Baptista all passed muster as far as I'm concerned - obviously with Gilberto being the stand-out and Edu not far behind. Hopefully Gabriel can be added to that list in the not-too-distant...
