Should LVG be trusted with more big money?

This summer, assuming LVG is still in the role at the club, should he get another £100-150 million to spend?

He's said recently a couple of things that didn't really make any sense. Firstly he said his main priority this summer was to buy a creative midfielder even though he has Herrera and Mata in the side, both of whom (especially Herrera) tick those boxes. Probably more than most players in Europe.

Secondly he said he needs a 20 goal a season striker. We have 3 right now. Interesting fact about the strikers we have. On four separate occasions in recent years each of our three main strikers have scored 20+ goals a season (that's 12 times it's happened).

He's failed to get the best out of Herrera, Di Maria, Mata (not his signing), Falcao and to a lesser extent Shaw.

Should he get more money or should he be told - 'You have the most expensive squad in English football history. Sort it out before you get more cash'. ?

Abdul, I don't want lvg sacked if we finish in the top 4. But I see us being pretty dire still while others improve and feel we won't get top 4. I really hope I'm wrong but it's happening in front of my eyes.

Regarding Moyes, I learnt my lesson from last season. Simply hoping things will get better doesn't always work.

I think we will finish in top four come end of season. I don't have any issue if LVG is sacked if we fall out. If we get top four and retain him I am sure he will sort out the style. He has proved that in the past and should be given time.

Robb as I said earlier it's right to judge the style when all players fulfill their potential.

Abdul - so you blame the players, not LVG for our performances but believe LVG should go if we finish 5th. Why?

And why do so many believe that another 3,4 or 5 new players coming and going this summer is instantly going to see us improve?

Reddevils double. I am not blaming only the players. But there are so many players in this team that haven't performed to their expected level for the majority of time this season. LVG has made some mistakes like playing players out of positions and getting wrong subs a few times. Every top manager does sometimes. No one is perfect. After all they are humans.

I wont entirely blame LVG unless all the playrs have played to their full potential and still the team is not performing. When so many players are underperforming and we are still in top four we should give some credit to LVG. This shows by experience he knows how to get the results even if the team is not performing. I personally believe that LVG should be given another season even if we lose top four by a slim margin. That's why I have said we should wait till end of the season to start slating him.

And instead of slating its good for the team when supporters back them to get back to where they belong.

Robb, just trying to follow the logic in the OP for a moment. Humour me please.

So since the manager has not brought out the best in his 3 big money signings, we should ignore the other signings he has made and not support him with any more "big" signings when there are issues to address in the squad.

Is that not setting up the manager and the team you support for failure?

I firmly believe we will be a much better side next year and he has identified 2 key players he needs but you are questioning if he should be given funds. So if he isn't, will it be fair to criticise said manager for not achieving targets?

Are we no longer giving managers transfer windows and time to get his own squad?

Have the rules changed?

This squad should comfortably achieve 3rd. Instead we are in for a scrap for 4th. Yes there are many factors to consider, but a lot of these are down to the manager (playing out of position, odd systems, players dropped, constant rotation, poor subs, many under performing players)

Is lvg the long term solution? NO,will it be easy to find another manager willing to replace LVG and have them use the same system/philosophy? No.shoild we give L g loaf not Eminem only to walk away in 2 more seasons? Personally I think not.

Should we give lvg more money only to......

So, basically you do not support the manager addressing the issues in the squad and are setting him up to fail.

Then when he fails, you blame him again, right?
