Migrant Population Figures Revealed

An analysis conducted by the Migration Observatory (Oxford University) concluded that the migrant population in the UK has risen up to 565,000 since 2011.

The biggest changes have been in London where around 3.2 million people in the capital were born abroad - 200,000 more than at the time of the last census.

With the general election on the horizon, this data will once again stoke the fires of those who see immigration as a strain on the countries infrastructure.

Of course, this isn't just about numbers coming in. A similar number of people have likely left the UK over the same period of time. Yet that in itself means that every 4-5 years, the English/Immigrant ratio is brought closer by approx 1 million.

Will this sort of trend continue and if so wouldn't it be fair to accommodate new customs/walks of life with new forms of education and a review of British law etc ?

Personally, i'm fine with immigration but I don't see a controlled influx of people. I see a free-for-all which is too big an issue for those currently in Government. They see the financial rewards of the EU for the big corporations whilst small local businesses are failing. Do British people want to pay for bridges being built in Eastern Europe ?

The other side of this of course is the change of culture. Now, the usual answer to something like this is 'what is British culture' and it is hard to try and put that into words but it does exist in a form and that form will change dramatically if trajectories continue.

Will this analysis have any impact on your vote at the next election?

Boko Haram have now pledged allegiance to isis, and so the global islamist evil spreads.

While some ignorant racists insult islam in general, and dislike muslim's,it has to be said that the spread of islamist extremism is a concern, and it is linked to islam/muslim's,in so far as they want an Islamic caliphate, and claim to be fighting for allah and muslim's.......even though they kill shia muslim's.
Murdering and targeting Christian's,Jews,Yazidis, kurds,Turkmen etc is sectarian, and a hate crime/war crime,so we cannot dismiss the role religious zealots present in jihadism.
Convert or die, attacks on churches, and Jewish targets, and beheading minority faiths makes this partly religious, and that is the islamist's fault,as it is their call, and actions, not ours.
Deflecting away from islam and muslim's gets us nowhere,as who will have to eventually address muslim extremism,if not fellow muslim's.That does not equate to muslim's having to say sorry for extremists, but if non-muslim's try to solve the jihadi problem,we will be accused of islamophobia, racism,or interferr
ing.............
Radicalization in mosques, online, schools, prisons, imams preaching hate etc, must be countered by someone,so who is best placed to do so?Pickles,Cameron,Ed,the police,or the community, jointly working with relevant bodies.

It is too simplistic to say they are just militants or terrorists,as their professed islamsim is the common thread. For example, extremist muslim's say the west should not be in muslim states, and this is overtly sectarian and religious,on their part.
We know that islam was a progressive faith, advancing society, but what has gone wrong with wahabee distortions and so many muslim's willing to join or support isis types?
Obviously,the west's foreign policies,and Bush/Blair created a catalyst for anti-western feeling,now being exploited by leftist's and islamists alike,who love western mistakes.
The west thought the Taliban were bad guys, and they are, just as Saddam Hussein,Gadaffi and Assad are and were naughty, but who to back, and what comes after the arab spring?Too much responsibility and blame is placed on the free world, and in future, the west should stay out of so called muslim states, and let the people there sort it.
This applies to N Africa also, and let us be honest, with no oil,we do not get into that region too quickly.........odd that?

I am glad we are learning more about islam here, and I like to see civil debate,so long may we learn from each other, whilst holding our own opinions.
Hats off to Kung Fu and SAF for expressing their points, and educating this interested observer.

Peace,and respect to the prophet,pbuh.

God Bless.

Interesting reading there bluebells. The way I understand it is the are parts of the Quran that refer to medieval acts of violence such as beheadings that have been seized upon by radical Muslims as a means to justify their terror campaign.

Both the Bible and Quran have such passages in the text but one thing they have in common is that they are taken out of context. By that I mean these are stories from ages gone by and have no relevance to the present day.

Where the difference occurs to me is that the reasons for violence inspired by the Quran are current where as Christianity has moved on as far as using its existence as a reason to murder and terrorise.

I feel that's because many have moved on from Religion in western society and we are more clued up as to wether or not to believe what we are told and pursue a more selfish look after number one attitude.

However is not as if our own Western Society has been quiet on the violence front. We are the creators of terrifying weaponry and have been fully involved in interfering in other countries affairs such is the fear they may destabilise our own cosy lives and prosperity.

So to me we have murder prosecuted by Muslims, Christians and those with no care about religion at all going on, carried out in a variety of different ways for many different reasons.

If only as individuals we could take control of this desire to use force to obtain our aims then the world would be a much happier place.

Evil intentions lurk within all off us and the reasons for allowing it to get the better of an intelligent mind can't just be put down at a scripture. It's more to do with desire for the self.

You have to answer this questions intelligently, with research, you can't just throw around accusations

---

I have no desire to research any religion.

They are all drivel.

The world is millions and millions of years old, as Science has conclusively proved.

I couldn't care less what one holy book written about 2000 years ago says over another.

The only thing is mate, the Quran doesn't contradict the estimation that the world is millions of years old.

Making your point meaningless.

If you had researched the Quran you would know this.

The bible doesn't explicitly stage the age of the planet either

overzealous, overly literal interpretation leads to the confusion

I like how religious people always say 'it's not meant to be taken literally' whenever it suits them.

Easy way out isn't it?

So the Quran doesn't explicitly say the age of the earth? So what.

It still claims there is a god.

There is no getting around the fundamental flaw in that one.

Funny how many other religions believed in their own gods before Islam even existed, yet now we are supposed to believe only that God is the real one, and all the others didn't exist.

Roman gods, Greek gods, Norse gods, Hindu gods, Christian gods all wrong.

It's OUR God that is the only one.

actually Christianity is monotheistic, same as Islam.

same God
