We've Improved In Attack So Much!

Despite some of the dissatisfaction with our the options in our attack, an apartment where even myself am a little concerned one must acknowledge how better off we were than last season.

Wenger speaking on the headache he faces when picking his front 3 in today's presser got me retracing my memory to our severe lack of depth in this department last season.

I reminisced the FA Cup final chasing a goal where we were forced to watch a knackered Giroud and below average Yaya Sanogo spare our blushes, it was a painful experience and one I prayed I never had to see my squad face again. Theo's injury finished our domestic campaign and I've always considered Poldi ineffective when it really matters!

Now however we have an improved Giroud, a fit Theo, a developing Ox, a useful Welbeck who at least imposes himself more than Podolski, I still consider Campbell a talent and he's not even at the club. Our star man is of course Alexis who stepped this department up a notch. Then I'd be more comfortable seeing Akpom trying to make an impact for us than I ever did with Sanogo.

We're not where we want to be yet in terms of quality but the improvement here is so evident and very welcome. We just need a top CF to come in for Giroud who can get in behind but also match his link-up play as that's very important for us and we'll be able to score at any given moment.

It's crazy to think how far we had fallen last season as I felt only Atletico were close to us in maintaining quality options in that department (Torres, Aguero, Forlan, Falcao, D. Costa, Mandzukic). Up until Giroud we had Smith, Wright, Bergkamp, Anelka, Henry, Adebayor, RVP. After Chamakh's immediate impact and our switch to 1 up top we seemed to favour the target man and we've suffered as a result.

We're nearly there though. We shouldn't sell anyone apart from the loanees and just add one more and we'll be complete up there

We have more options. But we don't really have a system. We just sort of play.
Another reason why I think Wenger is finished is down to him having lost the ability to build a flowing attacking system.

That's true. I actually think Wenger may find Alexis a problem in a way as he doesn't retain possession well but at the same time is our most dangerous player.

It wasn't a problem with Theo because he was just willing to do his best work off the ball and provide an outlet but Alexis wants to be on the ball and then tends to lose it quite often

It's true about sanchez

Probably the worst in the team for ball retention but also the most effective
