Di Maria has been awful for most of the season. That is without doubt. It's funny how we've instantly improved without him in the side as we don't lose the ball as much.

The choice really isn't Young or Di Maria. It's Di Maria or someone like Bale, Reus or Depay to replace him. At least 2 of those would be far more consistent than him. He even came with a buyer beware from those who watched Di Maria for years - that he's always been wildly consistent.

And don't forget the most important thing here - it's most probably Di Maria himself that wants to leave. He wanted to join PSG long before the break-in.

Just let him go, hopefully get our money back and buy someone who actually wants to play for us.

We need to give him some time like Fellaini. Something you advocated for last season.

What has changed?

One big difference is that - if the papers are to be believed, and that is a big if - there appears to be another club willing to give you your money back on the player.

If anyone had offered £27m for Fellaini at the end of last season every single fan would have bitten their hand off; even with his improvements this year, it is not absolutely certain that he is yet at the level you would expect from a player who cost that much (which, I'm afraid to say, is what Fabregas cost Chelsea).

I do not believe he wants to leave. Happy for him to stay

Difference is, Fellaini wants to be at United but Di Maria doesn't.

And one came with vastly more expectation than the other.

"ADM is 27, supposedly at his peak and, given his style of play, has maybe 4-5 years left at the top. If the club keep him another year and he continues to disappoint it is a big gamble"

There are numerous examples of players coming good eventually after a tough start to the PL. Tevez & Mascherano, Silva, Kompany, Henry to name a few.

Without even bothering to check my stats I could categorically say that they were all significantly younger than ADM and generally not as highly regarded.

And none of them even came close to costing £60m, even adjusted for inflation. Normally the cost of a player would be irrelevant to whether you keep or sell them, but in this instance, if there really is a buyer prepared to ensure that United break even on the player, it is a valid consideration.

Virtually no one on here would be happy for the club to spend £43m on Falcao, having judged him solely on his time at United - because the Falcao of old was a much more consistently dangerous player than ADM has ever been - but I find it curious that people will give ADM the benefit of the doubt.

I am going to apply to work on PSG's negotiating team.

£50m for Luiz & £60m for Di Maria

May as well apply closer to home.

Carroll - £35m
Balotelli - Any price
Lovren - £20m

We got rid of 4 of the talent attraction team at the start of the season and we have a decent team in place now. Thanks for the tip though. I think the £150m you spent in summer shows that you need a new team

My gut feeling is he's going to be with us next season and prove his doubters wrong.

Me too.

You have to bear in mind though that most United fans seem to think this is Di Maria's first season in the game. What he did prior to this season doesn't count for anything apparently!

Also, if the club pays big money for a player then that player is not allowed any time to settle in. At all...It's the law!
