Bloomers 1-1 Brentford

We have five games left in this season, five games left to try and ensure that the periods of hard work that went into this season don't all go to waste again. Personally it feels a bit sort of "too little, too late" for automatics, but mathematically I think it's still vaguely possible.

I have named the match thread today in honour of Colin Bloomfield, who yesterday was quoted just weeks to live and is now in a hospice. It's been spread around on various social media that in the 33rd minute, the fans will chant "there's only one Colin Bloomfield" in order to pay respects to him and let him know how much we all appreciate him.

Hughes is suspended today due to getting his tenth yellow card against Wigan this week, but apart from this, the same team will be starting. Presumably Martin is being used as an impact sub again, as that worked pretty well last time (once he actually got on the pitch - before that, it was abysmal )

Brentford are on excellent form at the moment, and I wouldn't put it past them to put a few past us, so let's just hope Grant is on top form again today!

I won't be attending the match today due to work commitments that I attempted to wriggle out of but couldn't manage to Bl0ody early kick offs I wonder if I can get my boss to play BBC Radio Derby just for a couple of hours..?

Team news to follow - I'll be at work so Moj if you could take a break from touring commitments to return to your real job on JA606?

Come on you Rams - win it for Colin!

Why hasn't anyone at Radio Derby asked SM if he is going to Newcastle?

Feel for both you and Dixie, Ang, knew from the outset that this game was going to be battle and only one team had the balls to try and win it, not good.

I did some work the Samaritans a while back mate, never again, I rang in sick one day and they talked me out of it.

Cheers Igor.
Just a bit down on my fellow man at the moment after a morning at Tesco's and the impending election etc

I get the sense the dominant view of the Derby faithful is to stay reserved and slighlty pessimistic and only get to our feet when we see something approaching amazing.

Not sure how we break the stoic but a bit fridge crowd, there's a lot of truth in the crowd mirroring what they see on the pitch, but also feel us rams fans are a bit bitter probably having seen a lot to be bitter about in recent times.

There's also the fact that a lot of folk who might want to get down and loud and not have as many reservations about it as others have been priced out of their seats. An affordable safe standing East stand might change this up a bit.

Wellies
Can't see the 'Peoples Stand' being transposed to the E Stand any time soon, as its probably prime real estate in terms of season ticket sales.
Totally agree with a larger area where you can stand and holler to your hearts content without recrimination though, perhaps marketing it in a similar way to the 'singing section' at away matches. If we can't get the whole ground rocking, lets concentrate all us thugs together, and maybe the ripples will spread out.

How about the Gordon Guthrie Stand?

Bring a drum, a flare a big f.off flag, cheap smuggled polish lager, stand up, sing your heart out for the lads and only pay a tenner for it.

Can you imagine the East stand though the whole length of it a sea of black and white, giant flags of Taylor and Clough being passed along the terraces, the air heaving with hoarse alcohol bathed song, a mixture of the whole city and country out n about for a song, dance and communal tourette's outbursts at young men not privileged enough to wear the hallowed black and white. Streamers, ticker tapes, pyrotechnics, lager showers, bouncing, drumming, a brass band, illegal turntables and impromptu sound systems, male voice choirs, new chants, old chants, a wall of noise, of solidarity of unbridled rage and passion. Young and old, man and woman, boy and girl, a carnival of colour, a raging river polluted with the intoxicating love for city, country and club.

Sam'll sort it

The West stand would recoil with envy if only we were poor enough to afford to bounce with them they'd say.

Ah, the stuff of dreams, and worthy of the TUSC manifesto
