Which is why I prefer Steven Eriksons superior Malazan Books of the Fallen series (completed).
Martin will now be slightly influenced by the show no matter how much he tries to avoid it. Its no longer his vision but a shared one. Also im weary of sush long breaks as they seem to either mean overthinking it or just not caring. Either one means the flow is disturbed.
-----------
Ive read the malazan book of the fallen, and ive got to say i prefer a song of ice and fire (game of thrones)
Well, the first three books at least are superior to any one of the eriksen books, quality dropped off for book 4, but 5 was an improvement.
joe abercrombies first law trilogy is a good read

I can see why some would think that but i guess as a personal preference disagree. Books 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10 far surpass Martins work. Not as books themselves but the overall plots and character growth. Its difficult to see an epic fantasy series judged book by book when really its the complete story told that matters.
Im not denying the power of the first 3 ASOIAF books though. Theyre great. I just prefer the complexity/history/depth and ability to actually like characters in Erikson's work.

Don't get me wrong, I have a great respect for Eriksens work, I just dident find many of the characters likeable, and the character I most liked (karsa) was left unresolved. Like a lot of threads in his story.
I realise some are tied up in the expanded works, which I am yet to read.
Most impressive was his ability to churn out such high quality work every year, I wonder how good it would have been had he taken a little more time over each book, his writing rate is phenomenal

I respect that.
