Great Football Movie

If you have not seen it, go and see "From Jack to a King", the story of Swansea Football Club from just avoiding relegation to the Conference to winning promotion to the Premiership. What a great football movie - probably the best ever! It was more than just a documentary, it was about people and the town. I knew Brian Flynn had been with the Swans, but did not realize he was manager when they avoided the drop to the Conference. In the part when they won League One, there was a quick look at the table and you could see the Rovers in third place (the year we beat the Weeds at Wembley).

After the movie, there was a Skype conversation with the Chairman, Trundle - one of the player stars earlier in the film (he now runs Community Outreach for the Club), and the chap who wrote the movie. It was 4:30AM in Swansea!

It was the USA premiere, and a great event. Most of the audience were Portland Timbers fans including many from the Timbers Army, the most rabid of them. When the Skype came on line, the audience were waving Timbers flags and singing the Timbers Army song. During the film, everyone was cheering and booing at the right times. Portland really is Soccer City USA! The Portland Thorns, our women’s team, even plays before an average crowd of 13,000

Have a great summer everyone, after a win on Sunday (I see Syers might be back for the Iron). What is the betting PD will play Theo....!

In the USA, it is available on Amazon, but in PAL format. OK for you in the Mother Land, but not for we Colonialists!
