I see Mr Strauss has allowed personal grievance to influence his decisions. Seems extraordinarily petty and immature. Doesn't bode well.

Paul Downton must be thrilled - he's no longer the worst manager in England cricket history.

@Someday..
So u don't believe in second chances or moving on? Don't care for present and just living in past or too concerned for future whereas present is the most important !

At the end of the day, this is no kitty party to get along, these players are playing for country and not for their personal relationships. Their top priority is to win the game just like soldiers who fight and protect their Nation from attacks. It may not be the best example but I hope u get my point..

I may be in a minority, but with the exception of giving him and advisory role, not to mention exceptionally poor timing, I think Strauss has made the right decision.
This is the same KP who attempted to oust his coach, undermined and insulted his captain to the opposition, has within the last year released a book staffing off half the dressing room and accusing them of bullying when in the same book he publically denounced James Taylor as being not good enough. He has no self awareness and no respect for his colleges, and I don't want him anywhere near the England dressing room, regardless of how many runs he's scored.

And the respect shown to KP via a twitter account???
Shouldn't those involved also be removed for disrespecting a fellow team member??

Seems like strauss has come back and SA series is round the corner. Will he be forced to resign like last time?
Would be hillarious if thats how it went. Lets be honest If England have a poor year they are bound to be sackings and resignations. Lets see how the year folds out.....
NZ, then the Ashes, then vs Pak in UAE and the final stop in SA. it would be complete jokes if Eng dont do well this year for a decision that is non cricketing.
To all the people that talk about everything KP has done in the past. Yes he hasnt been a saint, but its the ECB that told him play county and score runs and will pick you if you do that. If they had no intentions of ever picking him why do all this drama? Surely its the ECB that are always trying to push this KP saga to be the centre stage of everything that is going on around english cricket. and then you have strauss say that its not about KP, its about the future of English Cricket. so why say that KP is not in the short term plans of England and he could still be picked later in the year(If england do really bad). Why cant Strauss just say KP is banned from playing again and close this chapter?

As has been mentioned before kp has done everything asked of him ie getting his head down and scoring runs.I think if vaughan or stewart had been picked ahead of strauss then kp would be in.He deserves a second chance.
Any slim chance we had of winning the ashes is now even slimmer.Well done ecb!!!

But Pietersen, who played 46 Test matches under Strauss's leadership, claimed his former captain could name players who mistrust him.
"I asked: "Who doesn't trust me?" said Pietersen. "You have a new chairman, a new CEO, we have spent the last 10 minutes sorting out our differences like adults. Let's go through the batting order.
"I rattled off names. He could not give me any names. He said it is a broader thing and not just the players."

Well well well - this interesting
If Strauss wont tell - lets see if we can figure it out.
No doubt "bullies" Anderson & Broad - Possibly Chef (Cook)
The others (Prior & Swann) are long gone.

Broad should hopefully be gone soon so that just leave Anderson and captain foolish. Don't think KP actually had a massive problem with Jim my anyway.

"It's down to the selectors, down to the coaches, of what they see, what is best for English cricket," he said. "They will make the decisions and I will support them when it comes to that decision."
That's what Colin Graves said about Pietersen, before he became chairman. He may have not ruled out a recall for Pietersen, but it's basically untrue to say that he was promised a return if he went out and scored runs. Frankly the ECB has never had that stance.
As for giving Pietersen a second chance, the thing is this wouldn't be his second chance, or even his third. His book burnt any of the fragile bridges that he had left with the dressing room, and he has consistently allowed his media mouthpiece, Piers Morgan, to slight and undermine the current regime.

Proven that Cook is Strausses mistress, says Miss Cook it is either him or me. The logic on form should have been Pietersen, but there again Pietersen doesn't wave his hips as well.
