Sad Day

This was an amazing race.

There was plenty of overtaking, a lot of on track action and some amazing driving all over the field.

So to have it end on such a sour note is nothing short of gut wrenching.

Lewis, you have handled yourself like a true professional and the F1 world salutes you.

Nico, humility is a valuable asset. Give it a try every once in a while.

Jenson, congratulations. Points on the board at last! Onwards and upwards for McLaren-Honda.

Here's hoping we can put this mess behind us in Canada.

Explaining why the risk was taken to bring Hamilton in, Wolff says Mercedes was worried Sebastian Vettel would be able to pit and rejoin in third on fresh tyres.

Um... it's Monaco Toto - have you not heard of track position?

Plus, Vettel had neither the track position nor the pace to pit for tyres, chase down the Mercedes' and pass them to win.

Exactly. Amazing they were worried about Lewis not Nico

Really wonder what must be going through the minds of the strategists at Mercedes

They had a 12, Nico could have easily blocked off Seb or they could have even told Nico to slow down further under the safety car ad Seb could not overtake even with the unnecessary pit stop.

Absolute shambles
