5th

So we have finished 5th which is better than last season, and the same as AVB's first season in charge.

So it would be interesting to ask Chicken if he thinks we have gone backwards as a club under Poch, and would have been better keeping Sherwood as manager?

Incidentally to help him make his mind up, I have included a list of Spurs managers with their win % records. Funnily enough Poch has the best record in recent years, with AVB second

and if average is 5th and a cup final, then if things get good then we have a lot to look forward to
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

We can have this same debate in exactly one years time and I predict that with Poch at the helm we will have done no better at all than we have this season.

But of course then it will be excuse 4008 and Levy will be to blame for not buying every superstar in the world for him

"It's magnificent to be in Europe, and this club - a club like Tottenham Hotspur - if we're not in Europe.... we're nothing. We're nothing."
------------------------------------------------------------------

Another quote Old Bill had europe to contend with as wellIn a day when a trip took 3 days and not 3 hours.

still no praise for the good things poch did this season then?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can only think of one good thing? Things denote more than one.

Harry Kane was his one, other than that I cant think of anything he did that was worthy of note.

Maybe some of his transfer signings

if you can only think of one good thing then you are either so biased you are blind to having a proper look, or you don't know what you are talking about.

not sure which it is.

I’m sorry grand but I am totally with Chronic on this one. In every league, at every level, across the entire planet, there will be many cases where the better team on paper does not win. That is the beauty of football. If it wasn’t, and the favourite won every time, football would be dead.

We all admit we should be beating teams like Villa, Palace and Stoke, but by that theory we should have no hope against Chelsea or Arsenal. You have to accept there will be rough times as well as smooth – and just hope that the smooth outweighs the rough.

chicken

I agree with that but we lost far to many times at WHL last season for it to be considered a "solid season"

Yes there will always be upsets but we also got outplayed to many times by inferior teams on our own ground.

The home form was pretty woeful to watch.

Statistically one of our worst home seasons since Ramos.

The away results were pretty good again though. Up there with our best of the last few years, and much better than we achieved under Redknapps tenure - we tended to get good results at home, but average ones way.

A telling statistic is that we won 13 of our 19 games by a single goal. That has to change, the margins are far too fine there. That's largely the reason we had a GD of just 7 - we snuck a fair few wins by the skin of our teeth

this is also why woolwich get CL every season you can count on one hand the amount of times they drop points to bad teams with us you need your hands and your feet to count them

======================

Firstly, why do you have to compare everything we do what Arsenal do? Plus, from memory Arsenal dropped points against Everton, Leicester, Hull, Sunderland, Stoke and I think both Swansea and Southampton did the double over them (not sure about that though ??). I know it is still less than we do but even an established CL team like Arsenal lose points to teams they are far greater than on paper.

It’s annoying when we beat Chelsea then lose to Palace in the very next game, granted, but that’s the rough and smooth of football.

I dont as a rule but its relevant when talking about top 4 spots, which in itself appears to be the success benchmark.
