After hearing this evening that Benteke has a buy out clause for 30 mill i am now certain he will leave regardless of the result on Saturday. I think most Villa fans wont complain if he goes and joins whoever it is and i for sure wish him all the very best. What does concern me is Lerner. He wants to sell but i cant see him giving Sherwood all the money from the Benteke sale to go out and buy us a top striker. This pretty much means next season will again be a MASSIVE struggle. Gabby does not cut it up top and if we do get Adebayor for a cut price he is hardly going to offer what Benteke does. I'm not being negative but i really dont see us splashing 15 odd million on any player while Lerner remains ardent to sell !!!

not even Sherwood knows what the buy out clause is.. so I doubt the media know lol... you'll hear a lot of nonsense about benteke over the summer in the media. until it's officially announced he's going I wouldn't pay much attention. I personally think he'll still be here next season.

Players move on, a fact of life, something we are very used to at Villa.
I'd be annoyed if he moved to a team like Liverpool, because he is far better than that. United, Cheslea, Arsenal yes, not a mid-table team.
Not that he will be a like for like replacement, but I would have more confidence if we bought Charlie Austin in (think he's a great player his price tag would be doubled if he was called Carlos Austino)
I don't think Adebayor is that much of a punt as he always does well when he first joins a club, and he will be on a free, and at his age won't get more than a one year deal. Gotta be worth a go.

Oh I don't know. European footy, increased wages, 6th isn't really mid table is it and I'd like to think if he can stay injury free we could get the four more wins that would give us CL.
We'll see but I like him.

He won't go to Liverpool, period. Why tie himself down for the next few years to a team which has a long way to go to be a cert for the top European challenge? And there are stronger teams in England who could and would offer him something better.
I think he's a sensible lad. He'll come to a sensible decision. Another year with us is certainly possible; a full, good, year would give him a vast range of options.
If he does go I think Sherwood will go for somebody like Austin, and a different approach up front.
