What is art to you? Do you only have time for the fine arts? What do you prefer? Theatre, dance, visual, music? Do you believe, as most schools do during budget cuts, that the arts are easily sacrificed? Has art played a big part in your life?
Will art matter in the future?
The arts are what make us our most human.
Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.

99.9% of what people call modern art is awful pretentious dross, surprisingly even some people within the arts are realising this now.
Personally I prefer the "art" of some groud breaking new architecture or a car design. Something that combines practicality with bucket loads of creativity. Film benefits from this too but the art galleries and uni shows full of "modern art" almost always absolute shiiite.
Richard Wilsons 20:50 oil room in the Saatchi is one of the only pieces of modern art I've thought lived up to the hype.
