My first ever British Grand Prix

Hi Guys

First time poster on the motorsport boards. Been a member of 606 since back in the good old days though.

Anyway.......I'm going to be attending my first ever Grand Prix in just under 2 weeks. I have been to Silverstone before twice for the Classic car weekend but never been to the BIG one. Me n the wife both turned 30 this year so we've got Friday-Sunday passes for Grandstand as a bit of a celebration.

Any tips? We really want to make it best weekend we can. She loves F1 even more than I do too so I want it to be really special.

Nice one been to Silverstone for the F1 3 times now this year will be 4. Were you camping? Ill be in Woodlands again really good there usually two big tops tents that play live music and lots of other wee events.

Iv never had the granstand tickets but i do prefer the roaming ones cos there is a certain wee spot i always go to. If only we were guaranteed good weather Silverstone would be one of the best circuits to attend. Iv heard Valencia is awesome for the fans.

Nah we're not camping. We've got friends who live in Northampton and we're staying there.

My wife won't sleep in a tent. Not even for something like this.

aww man the campin is alf the fun!! in fact id go as far to say that the camping i every bit as good as the race !! The banter and the entertainment they put on is excellent. Good for meeting folk as well. If you get good weather camping is the best way to experience it i think. No so great in the rain tho as they dont let u park next to your tent and he car park can get a bit troublesome !!

You don't have to convince me. I'm a regular festival attendee and love the old camping malarky. Done glasto four times and that's 5 nights straight in a tent.

The Mrs just won't do it tho. Not even for one night. Won't even consider glamping either. It's hotel, campervan or nothing for her.

nothing would be my answer then .... Let her know that you wont go without theres plenty of females that attend !! Yeah at Silverstone i usually get there for the thurs afternoon and leave Monday afternoon. Waking up to the cars engines is quite unique (nothing compared to 2/3 years ago mind you, from your sleeping bag you could genuinely tell how many cars were on track !! Woodlands is over a mile away bear in mind !!)

Hello Mr Ender!

Welcome to the motorsport board. Hope to see more of you.

Woodlands is the place to be.

If you can get the roaming tickets and access to the paddock, visit the teams. RedBull, Mclaren and Mercedes treat guests very well.

The drivers are great with fans as well. Seb, Lewis in particular

PS. Have you ever thought of divorce?

""PS. Have you ever thought of divorce?""

Perhaps he doesn't want to marry a tent.
