English Core Stagnating

We really can't just accept our English players aren't progressing whilst a garbage manager like Roy helps them realise their potential... I know England have played some poverty teams in the qualifiers but our players have been among the strongest performers yet they're very different for us

I know injuries to this crop in particular has played a massive part in their developments but they should still be doing more at club level, I won't say they have more freedom for England because we're defined by our creative football

Ox has been on the verge of becoming a superstar for 3 years now

Welbz looks like Henry when lining up for England and I'd say Welbz for England >> Giroud for Arsenal yet it's far from the case at club level

Wilshere seems to hinder our form but his England performances indicate that he could easily be the controller we're looking for at deep alongside Coq, he should be ahead of Santi in that role for me

Give it time and Gibbs will probably look like the 2nd coming of Ashley Cole like we've wanted him to be at Arsenal for years

Chambers will probably emulate Tony Adams for England before he does for us too.

Theo is the only one who's benefitted more from Arsenal's use of him than the other way round

Is it that Arsene has never been able to really utilise English talent well? Campbell, Cole, Parlour, Theo and Keown are the only Englishmen that have been successful for Arsene over a prolonged period and progressed under him.

That's a very limited list considering the amount of superstars he's nurtured.

We've built this British core for years now and we're laughing as Chelsea and City scramble for some HG talent but are we even benefitting? Hard to tell but if it was up to me at least 5 of our Englishmen would be starters if they play at their best.

I'm still unsure as to whether Gabriel and Kos will work, Chambers is quite similar to Merts in reading the game but more mobile and enthusiastic therefore given Per's decline I'd have Calum providing a more threatening claim.

Always backed the Ox think he's one of our biggest talents would be a starter on the right for me, Jack I think is better at dictating a game from deep than Santi so he'd make my team playing alongside Coq if it isn't Rambo.

Welbz for England is our most ideal CF in terms of the pace and power he brings and somehow the class goalscoring record he has at International level and Gibbs and Monreal has always been a strong battle so could go either way.

Anyway if Wenger can't get the best from them I hope he makes the effort and ensures they're all kept for his successor who may be able to eventually. Jack, Ox and Chambers in particular are a massive part of our future and I want them to become key players in our inevitable success

Is Wilshere really better in that role than Cazorla? Granted I don't watch them as much as you but was it not moving Cazorla to that role that pretty much turned your season around.

Wilshere is obviously a better long term option, but Cazorla's a class act and could teach him a lot.

Ignore the OP, Wilshere is not better than Cazorla, who was our best player after Sanchez last season.

From what I saw of you, I thought so too. Particularly in the big games him and Coq were a major difference in midfield. Obviously Ozil and Sanchez are your match winners but that's never really where you've been lacking...

Chambo and Jack are the real deal. Chambers could emulate Rio too. Be patient. England play pants games against 4th division reserve sides in qualifying.

...and then struggle against the might of Slovenia and Costa Rica in the actual tournament..

Wilshere is nowhere near cazorla at present but i do think that deep role next to coq would be his best position. Problem is its rambos best place too. I really dont see a way long term of fitting both of them in weekly.

You skipped over this and the injuries, but they are most likely the main explanations. The rest of the article is pretty much redundant.

Nope Cazorla's season actually got worse when he went deeper, it's a myth that he was superb there. City, Newcastle, etc.. all his best games were from advanced

He's had the most overrated season in our history, Coq going there changed our season not Santi people forgetting how garbage he was first half too

Anyway if he was doing so well there people wouldn't be wanting a new DM that controls our game as Wenger has madenit Santi's job but he doesn't dictate well at all in the role doesn't keep our play ticking smoothly and Ozil has had to come deeper than ever to collect the ball, something he didn't have to do with Arteta

If Coq was better offensively I'd actually play him with Mikel in the bigger games overall I think Jack is better IN THE DEEP ROLE than Santi and is our long term solution there

Cazorla was found out against Monaco and United only tough games he actually played in that position, average vs Chelsea too he was only decent against the average sides

He's a No. 10 and unfortunately for him Ozil is better I think he should be his back up. Wilshere is also a better passer than Santi don't let nationality fool you Jack is only 2nd to Ozil regarding execution

I personally think Caz's worst game was v Spurs, couldn't cope with their pressing at all.
