Rumours from a good source

Afternoon all,

I'm not one for believing big twitter hypes or Internet rumours, although I do seem to have one reliable source this pre-season.

A bit of a sisters, boyfriends, brothers, sons, best mate kind of thing - but - the apprentice at my place claims to know somebody in the know at Elland Road. I've never believed him, especially as last season most of the rumours he told me were wrong, although he blamed them on Cellino changing his mind every 2 minutes.

He claims now that with Pearson and Rosler running the team and the ship as it were, Cellino is now a more settled owner and on a smoother ride (according to his source).

As said, normally I laugh him off however he told me about Erwin, Wood and Drury before anyone else this year so my ears have picked up slightly.

He has told me today that Rosler wants 5 or 6 players fighting for the front 3 positions, all of different ilks. Wood is the no.9 as we know and he wants Morison as backup for no.9 role and 3-4 players fighting for the 2 positions either side of him.

Apparently he likes Antenucci and obviously Erwin will be an option out wide. Sharp and Doukara aren't in his plans at all.

He's told me today that Brandon Barker is in talks over a 3 year deal and also negotiating for young Murphy from blades with a swap + £ for Sharp.

Also been informed that Joey Barton has contacted LUFC to try to push a move to us. Willing to take pay cut on the basis that LUFC pay for his coaching badges.

Cellino hoping to recover some cash spent on Wood for other signings on the sale of Byram to Everton.

Do I trust my source? Not completely, but none of what he says too far away from a possibility.

Hell, Leeds may just be the making of him

Rosler wanting 2 wide players, a cm and another rb if Byram leaves apparently.

Murphy expected to stay along with Sloth who is expected to play a bigger role next season. Rosler doesn't feel he got a fair crack last season.

Bianchi unknown as still out with injury. Will be hard to shift on. Doukara also hard to shift but could go out on loan.

I agree I think he has some raw talent but when you're a big man like him you need excellent ball control or to be a monster in the box and he doesn't have either.

Not suited to Rosler's style.

He's happy with the 4 CBs - Cooper, Bellusci, Bamba, Wooton.

Apparently we enquired about Moore on loan but wasn't likely at the time. Whether we'll go back I'm not sure.

That's all I can get out of him today. Said he will have more info middle of next week.

Exciting times

what about Ajose Rogan?
Any mention if he will be given a chance to impress?

Not heard anything. Will ask the question next week.

I think he's worth another shot. Did OK when he was back out on loan.

I personally think we need another CM, a LB and a RB if Byram goes. I would like to see another CB as don't think Bellusci is ever going to be good enough.

Need 2 pacey wide players who can hurt people.

He did say that Rosler thinks Antenucci will be key in the right formation. His words were 'his touch and technical ability are very high and in the right team and tactics can do even better than last seaon"

For what it's worth, I like Antenucci. Think he had a good eye for goal, if not a little greedy sometimes, but technically was a good player and when we were on the front foot in games he looked a threat.

Been told Rotherham asked about Steve Morison. Rosler wanting to keep him as can play the front line role.

Barry is slower, older and a worse tackler. **

if that was true we would have Barton at Everton instead of Barry on Byram - I dont think there is anything in it - the press are trying to sell Coleman to Man United and its all come from that really.........

No you wouldn't. And it is true.

Barry is older, slower and a worse tackler than at the very least 30 PL/Championship midfielders none of which play for Everton.

Silly.

Here's a cracker from HITC

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/01/gary-rowett-comments-on-transfer-interest-in-clayton-donaldson/?

"....we have not solicited any bids, we have not enticed any bids. He is a player we don’t want to sell. It’s just speculation, I fully expect and want Clayton to be our player next year, he is an integral part of what we are doing.”

Translation

We want to sell him, but not for peanuts. Would someone bid for him please. If he's here next season I'll dress up as a radish on the touchline for every home game, he doesn't want to be here...!

I never said he wasn't.

Who you think is the better player is up to you...but I never compared their overall footballing ability, just certain attributes.

I said Barry is older, which he is. Slower, which he is. And a worse tackler, which he is.

Barton would suit Leeds United better than Barry would.
