The Open

Hi everyone - just thought I would create a thread for some chat on the Open. Of course Rory is out, which is a big disappointment for everyone, but shouldn't take away from what will be a great event. Spieth will be the man to beat, and I would be surprised if he doesn't finish top 10. Of the more fancied players, I think Stenson could do well also. It will also be interesting to see what progress (if any) Tiger has made - seeing him struggle may have given some people a 'strange pleasure', but for me it's got to a point where I don't want to see him struggle, I want to see at least some glimpses of the old Tiger.

From a betting viewpoint, I've avoided the favourites to go for some bigger prices options - Garcia at 40s (just one day it will happen, Sergio!!!), Kisner, Howell and Levy at much bigger prices.

Be good to hear from all of you as always

Always hate seeing someone win on a miss, but fair play Zach. Some outrageous approach play.

At the start of the open i backed f molinari at 90/1,brandon grace at 45/1 for small e/w stakes. I opened up another online acct last night and proceeded to do my bolox to the tune of 400 squid. Took a look at the prices for the final day and had 20 e/w on zach johnson at 40/1! Sometimes it is just meant to be,louis missing his putt on 17 leaves me collecting a grand ,pure luck and a little judgement.

A great final round for Johnson and solid performance in the play-off gives him a deserved victory. A shame one of the Europeans couldn't get into the mix, and that four putt by Speith may have cost him a shot at history.

Not too long to the final major of the season, hopefully be a few more folk around for that.
