Fountain of youth

One good positive going forwards is the youthful look to the side. We certainly have lost the old habit of signing 28-30 year olds and then being stuck with them on the books eg Hunt, Tonge, Norris etc.. Only four players over the age of 26. Lets hope they can all improve with experience.

01. GK Marco Silvestri (24)
22. GK Ross Turnbull (30)
30. GK Charlie Horton (20)

28. RB Gaetano Berardi (26)
03. CB Sol Bamba (30)
05. CB Guissepe Bellusci (25)
06. CB Liam Cooper (23)
04. CB Scott Wootton (23)
21. LB Charle Taylor (21)

02. RM Sam Byram (21)
08. CM Luke Murphy (25)
14. CM Tomasso Bianchi (26)
10. CM Alex Mowatt (20)
23. CM Lewis Cook (18)
29. CM Casper Sloth (23)
27. CM Kalvin Phillips (19)
24. CM Tom Adeyemi (23)
??. LM Stuart Dallas(24) (likely to sign 04/08)

11. ST Soulemayne Doukara (23)
20. ST Steve Morison (31)
07. ST Mirko Antenucci (30)
19. ST Lee Erwin (21)
09. ST Chris Wood (23)

how many of that squad do you see developing into players who can take us forward. Silvestri, mowatt, byron and cook for me rest are future journeymen.

Silvestri has years - he is a baby gk and could become very good.

Horton - who knows?

Cooper - only just stepped up to tier 2 last season - could well develop yet

Taylor - improving all the time and may yet be the best of all our kids.

Byram - people forget he missed a lot of time with that hip injury. Only just learning the wing - could push on from here.

Mowatt - been getting better - why cant he cant better still?

Cook - will surely get better - so young and so much potential.

Phillips - only had a small amount of game time. Redfearn liked him. Rosler likes him.

Adeyemi - relatively inexperienced - could get better if he settles at a club.

Dallas - late started as a pro - could get better.

Erwin - only just started out - potential

Wood - not settled at one club - could really grow at Leeds..

even players like Sloth and Doukara could offer more if they can get some confidence and help from the manager.

All IFS but lets hope some can progress

"how many of that squad do you see developing into players who can take us forward."

How many of that L1 side with Howson, Johnson, Beckford and Gradel, et al did you see as being able to play at the highest level of the leagues they played in?

Yes! Great post. Hopefully they will benefit from having a more experienced manager too, who can instill discipline.

Given our young squad, new manager, new formation and tough fixture list in first month, I just hope everyone holds their head (i.e., Cellino) if things start a bit shaky. Could take a bit of time to settle. In the great words of Jon Bon Jehovah...Keep the Faith

Mowatt, Cook and Byram will all play in the prem.

Hopefully with us.

The signing of Dallas, judging by reports from Brentford fans seems like a very good move. I will be looking forward to seeing what he is all about.

I still think we need a bit more as if we picked up a couple of injuries we will be screwed. Hoping for a couple of loan signings to add a bit of depth.

Looking forward to Saturday regardless, we will see come 2.30 what the mood is going to be. I am praying we start to play some football that is actually attractive to watch.
