Another International Break Means...

Another thread moaning about the international break. Surely it would be a better idea to have all the international games together, at the end of the season, once people have stopped caring about club competitions?

Anyway, given the recent result against Arsenal, do you think the break will do us any good? Or would it have been better to play Everton right away?

Where would all the games be played?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could have a Qualifying round host, and and Finals host (places close together) Like Spain/ Portugal, England/ Scotland etc. would be better for the smaller countries.

I don't agree because it's a terrible idea.

It's ok to change your mind, you know. You're only human.

So what you are saying is that unless thry are hosting then England fans wouldn't be able to watch competitive games at Wembley?

And then a host country should have to organise a tournament to qualify for an actual tournament.

It's just a crap idea on so many levels.

I get some people don't like international football but others do and suggesting such a thing as it may benefit premier league sides is facking ridiculous.

Maybe increasing the number of international games between seasons could be a compromise, but a tournament for a tournament, for the whole of world football, just no.

It was just an idea, and one that I had not considered for more than a few seconds before posting. You've asked some interesting questions and I think I've answered them pretty well, considering that I haven't really thought about it. I don't think it's too difficult to imagine a compromise or an alternative to some of the answers I've provided. You have suggested a decent compromise yourself. I'm pretty sure it could work if carefully considered.

Fair play.

I like international football so the breaks don't bother me as much as others.

Rooney seems he will be getting a rest, he's picked up a knock in the Arsenal game.

Think he needs a rest for the rest of the season.

Ironically, I think the break will do us some good. If we had won the game, I might feel very different about that.

Hard to say really.

I know Fergie used to hate an international break after a defeat. Not sure how Van Gaal feels about them.

I hate losing on an international break.

But it seems like we lose a hell of a lot more now. Which is probably ballacks, just the other teams win more nowadays.
