Your England Squad for Euro 2016

Who would be in it?

Mine would be.....

The keepers speak for themselves

Hart
Butland
Forster

Now you may accuse me of club bias here, but I think Danny Rose is the best all-round left back England have. He defends well now, he is strong and hard to shake off the ball. He is quick and dynamic when in possesion, takes players on, and gets up and down all game. I like Gibbs too, and honorary mention for Bertrand and obviously the injured Shaw. Personally I don't think Baines is cut out for Summer football, as good a player as he is. Looked shoddy in 2014 and not getting younger.

Rose
Gibbs

Walker is back to his best now, despite what other fans may think. Always a question mark about his defending but his tackle success rate this season is unreal- 96% I believe. Not sold on Clyne myself but there is little competition here. I don't think Jenkinson or Chambers are energetic enough for what we need

Walker
Clyne

It's rare to have to pick a 4th choice CB for a tournament, so I have picked three (but have Dier in the squad too). Smalling and Cahill are automatic squad picks for me, and Stones makes up the three. All comfortable with the ball at feet(as is Dier).

Smalling
Stones
Cahill

Dier and Carrick bring two completely different things to the side, and are a nice contrast if we need to alter our style. I can't think of two better players to have as our defensive options - Carrick still head and shoulders the best passer of the ball in England, with Dier also freeing up a squad place as he can drop in at the back

Dier
Carrick

Competition is pretty fierce for the other midfield slots. Personally I think Wilshere and Henderson have pretty much nailed down squad spots if fit. Ox is a fine player too, one I feel many at Arsenal don't fully appreciate. Barkley would get my last spot over Alli. I think it is all a bit to soon for young Dele, I'd like to see him learn his trade properly for the U21s rather than possibly just catch odds and sods for the main squad.

Wilshere
Henderson
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Barkley

A good mix of forwards. Sterling for his out and out skill. Walcott for his direct pace and finishing. Welbeck the ultimate team man, good scoring record too. Vardy very hard to ignore, and Rooney, Sturridge and Kane are automatic picks for the squad. There are a variety of styles, and a pretty flexible set of players that could be tailored to any way of playing. Most importantly there are goals among them, something lacking at times.

Sterling
Walcott
Welbeck
Vardy
Rooney
Sturridge
Kane

I'd have liked to have found a place for Andy Carroll, simply because I feel he could be a great kitchen sink option, but I can't on current form. Alli as I said a bit too soon in my opinion. Townsend has performed for England previously, but I think Welbeck shades it on that criteria. Shaw if not injured obviously a possible first XI. Betrand.

What says you?

Can't see Ibe being in the squad myself, it's one position where England have a lot of good players.

Disagree about up front. We'd look pretty strong if they were all fit.

.............

That is part of the point of my comment.

Walcott and Studge are rarely fit.

Rooney has been poor all season long, Kane is really untested at the highest level, and Vardy and Welbeck are not international class.

Aaaah Vidicschin and broad, sweeping statements..
If Vardy was Argentinian, Italian or Spanish he would be getting much higher praise.

No no...if he moves to Man Utd or a team in the so called 'top 4' then he will get much higher praise to the point of being cannonised and completely over-hyped by fans

One other stat I would like to say is Michael Carrick has won the PL title more times then either Arsenal or Chelsea Still not good enough to play for England though despite being a 1st team starter for Man Utd going into his 10th season and being vice-captain.

Yeah Yeah
The so called 'Top four' are so called because they are generally in the top four of the PL.
Hope that clears it up for you.
