Substitutions

This has to be Van Gaal's biggest weakness with United in the 18 months he's been at the club so far. His subs don't make sense, especially tonight when we put Fellaini on in CM and literally disrupted the entire game and gave PSV confidence to attack us. Schneiderlin looked so lost when he was paired next to the guy and it affected his performance.

Van Gaal then proceeds to move Fellaini up front and drop Rooney into midfield which completely unbalanced the side even more and stopped any attacking threat that we posed in the first half. We bought midfielders in the summer so we wouldn't have to resort to this tactic ever again.

Young was a good sub, but moving him to RB and putting Mata on in the 86th minute? As if the game wasn't disjointed already, why would you move him to RB for and so late on? As I said, none of his subs in his time here have been game changers and the Fellaini 'Plan B' is just too predictable. He has to go in January by the way, we don't need him.

Yes it is football and ultimately it means very little in the grand scheme of things but most here support a club and invest some level of interest in them and that means showing emotions.

The combination of nativity with your strange view of knowledge on the game is quite impressive in a very reataarded way.

Barca we win

I know you would because you come across as an incredibly beige person who has no desire to express or experience a range of emotion yes is happy to let us know your terrible knowledge on all things Barcelona and question anyone who has concerns over the side they support even though you believe United have no identity and whose only concern is the amount of money they make.

So you haven't been saying for months that LVG's desire is to dominate possession and to play a patient passing game? That hasn't been your answer for months to anyone who has shown concerns over the way we have played? In no way have you suggested that we need to be patient because LVG clearly has an idea of how he wants us to play?

Are you really this f-cking stupid?

When you get your head out of Barca's arsse you would see that virtually no club has a strict identity that must be seen through the appointment of mangers and the football that is played.

Please enlighten me on what identity Bayern, Real, Juve, Milan, Porto, PSG, etc have other than to win?

Moyes was hired on the back of Ferguson deciding to leave the club at rather short notice because of the health of his wife. The job to bring in a replacement was rushed as a consequence and all the potential top candidates were not available. We decided that Moyes could offer us a platform for stability if given time, the idea was nice but ultimately it was a mistake. In response to that and clearly seeing that Moyes lacked the authority and respect of players the club clearly felt that a manager with vast experience, an ego and belief in himself was key hence why we went for LVG.

Moments in life can not always be planned in advance, mistakes can be made, the choices we want can't always be had, in hindsight things can seem so much easier. I understand that you probably have all your weeks meals labelled in the freezer waiting but that isn't how life works.

Football continually evolves, to stick to one type of identity is naive and limited. Ferguson showed that other than the desire to win and play attacking football the identity, systems, formations, etc changed and continued to evolve depending on how the game was moving.

This simplistic view you have on football is so infuriatingly stupid that pretty much everything that comes out of your mouth is utter garbage.

Seriously, what is this identity you believe United should have installed since Ferguson decided to retire and who are these managers that we could have got that could have enabled us to implement this identity that you seem to want to continue forever. Have Benitez, Blanc, Allegri, Mihajlović etc all continued the identity of the clubs they currently manage?

Well said Mu82. My personal favorite bit was the frozen food bit.

This is the best bite I've ever seen. I read every word intensely; without skimming.

I dont think Schweinsteiger was ever going to play the whole game (I think he had an extra days rest before the match?), and obviously with the injuries he thought Fellaini was the only other option.

I dont know if he's forgotten though that Blind is a pretty competent midfielder. In terms of subs, this would have made so much more sense early in the 2nd half:

Darmain Mike Rojo Young
Blind Schneiderlin
Mata Roo Lingard/Depay
Martial

You're then free to bring Fellaini on later, probably for Martial who was pretty ineffective.

As usual though LVG completely baffles everyone with bizarre substitutions. It's a been common theme throughout his reign.

Indeed, I've been thinking the same thing. Blind is afar better option in midfield than Fellaini

The subs wrecked the game and the manager is responsible for that
