If those cowardly, back-stabbing Labour rebels vote to support military intervention in Syria, against all common sense, against the overwhelming majority of party members, I'll have finally lost any hope in British politics.
Afghanistan was a massive mistake, cost hundreds of thousands of lives, did not destroy Al Qaeda, and hasn't weakened the Taliban.
Iraq was a massive mistake, cost hundreds of thousands of lives, and hasn't made the country or world a safer place.
Anyone who thinks that a) IS can be defeated by airstrikes, and/or b) the resulting collateral damage won't engender further antipathy against the West in the minds of young people in danger of radicalisation has an inability to learn from experience or a very short memory.
Many, many innocents will die, IS will not be 'destroyed', and the humanitarian crisis seeing millions of Syrians displaced (which the government will likely continue to ignore) will worsen.

You make a great deal of sense regarding the so called west keeping their noses out,but then you refer to the islamic world and that worries me,dude.
Fundamentalism and basing society on islam will only
Lead to divison, oppression and conflict, within the muslim and non-muslim community.
I saw Reggie Yates in london talking to ordinary muslim people about being gay,and the bigotry and fear meant folk were either loathe to talk in public,or they were homophobic.....and this was young and old muslims.
A gay bloke was thre a tened, called dirty and told that whitechalpel was muslim,so gay men should stay out.
Newsflash bruv's,you have only been here a couple od decades, and no part of the uk should be a no-go muslim area,as that would make Trump correct, for once.

i saw that reggie yates programme too and tbh it seemed the ''norm'' for all gay people and the attempt to make it ''worse'' in the muslim community was typical of these days i thought
i couldnt get over the black lesbian who couldnt accept gay men. she was lesbian but found the idea of men together disgusting

I thought it was us white hetro blokes that could only tolerate the lesbian thang, lol.
I would point out that numerous muslim people were given the chance to voice their opinion on gay folk, but virtually all adopted the stance based on their religous teaching.....that is an issue for muslim tolerance, and are you suggezting Reggie sought to smear black christian or muslim communities in south and east london.
Fundamentalist protestant and roman catholic people in the uk,usa and ireland hold similar homophobic views, and the lgbt lobby are all over them.
Does the muslim attitude to gay people receive lgbt criticism over there, bud?

Its a difficult discussion around homosexuality tbh pal. I dont know if you watch This Week but even Michael Portillo this week said a discussion cant be had without labelling people homophobic etc (Portillo is a gay man)
I thought teh black lesbian was being honest and could say that but if you or I said we didnt like the idea of 2 men being intimate we would get slated.
I do think that religious people having a stance is not the issue, its the no discussion around it or fear of being labelled a homophobe that prevents people from discussing it
I mean I have no inclination of ever having a relationship with a man is that homophobic?
Is it a religious stance? Because I wasnt always religious and it still isnt something I would consider
I am 40+ now so saw the era where it was easy to make certain statements. What that black lesbian said was the status quo ie thought of 2 men was seen as disgusting. I do think that hasnt gone away despite people not saying it. She even alluded to it ie she grew up with that mindset
Now the question is if a practising gay woman in an almost secret gay club has that mindset is it fair to then expect someone in their 50's to be different?
hope this isnt seen as homophobic by some

I admire your honesty sche, mate, and replied earlier, but the system m failed.
I have two gay brothers, andmy late father refused to meet my Out brothers partner, who has since died of a brain tumour.
My other bro is not out as he thinks he will hurt mum,so he lives a lie.
Mum and dad were religous protestants in younger days, and were/are anti-gay.
Staunch protestants and devout catholics here are homophobic, against gay lifestyles, but Dublin now allows g a y marriage, and lgbt and media outlets are pushing for change here, but unionists and many catholics oppose gay marriage, still.
I was born again in my teens, them went off the rails,so I too s truggled with how to view g a y folk, but I am liberal now, live and let live.
I know the bible says man should not lay with man,but God is love also.
My gay brother just wants equality, for example after his partner died,in relation to the house, will etc.
In 2015 gay people should not be afraid to walk in parts of the uk,or be able to be open a bout who they are with the family, i mo.
God or allah will make the call in the end.

You are correct in relation to gay issues,as sections of lgbt are pretty right wing in their actions, and th e Dup here get mangled if they express christian or biblical based opposition to say gay marriage.
The people against gay marriage in eire were slammed as bigots, and homophobes,in a state that went from ultra catholic even thirty years ago,to trendy liberal.
Partly due to catholic church abuse, and folk moving on to think for themselves.....irish society is more materialistic and hedonistic, than last century too,so it is not all progress, imo.
Muslim religous are not alone in finding change difficult, sche.

When I' lived in south london the idea of being a botty boy was frowned upon by the black guys, and they were not muslim,so it is across racial and ethnic groups,as white christians on this side of the sea reveal.
Bigotry can be colour blind, and multi-faith.

Sexism, rasicm, islamophobia, homophobia, anti semetism, francophobia, anglophobia, whatever you want to package it in to. It's all about the same thing.
"They are different to me. F#×k them!
Almost never is it anything to do in the slightest with anything beyond that.
I'll tell you all something interesting now though. The word "Apocalypse" comes from Greece. And it's true meaning is about a time which will come when the curtain is lifted and higher knowledge and understanding is obtained for the world. It's though of as the end of things and the death of the world.
But that is not definitively a negative. The death of the modern world of prejudice, war, materialism, personal agenda driven politics and more will come in the moment when the human race evolves into a new phase of existence. It may take destruction, it may take education, it may take thousands of years or only a few more. It may naturally occcur or be instigated.
But the true apocalypse will destroy a lot more about the world today than old buildings and treasured monuments.
By it's true definition it will mark our ascendance from homo sapiens to homo illustratum.
