I don't think the defeat to Bournemouth was a surprise, many had expected it following their good wins against Chelsea and Manchester United. Of course such wins don't guarantee three points against the league's bottom-feeding basement lowly-placed clubs. And it's such a topsy-turvy game that a basement club can then defy the odds and win. However that didn't happen at the Albion, and Bournemouth did what they had to do.
